Im looking at buying a 93 Laser N/T 2.0 AUTO dirt cheap. The car runs and the trans shifts fine until the car is warmed up then the trans jus stops working till its completely cooled off. Now to me it sounds like it needs a new trans but i could be wrong. Has anybody else encountered this problem? Could it be the torque converter? Help me out here. Thanks in advance!!!

Im looking at buying a 93 laser RS auto. the car runs and drives but after the trans warms up it will not shift into any gear until it cools off completely. I was wondering if it could just be in need of a fluid and filter change? Ive been told it could be that, or the TCU, or the torque converter. (Outside of needing a new trans) Has anyone else encountered this and what was it? All gears work untill everything gets warm. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

First, don't buy the car. Import transmission rebuilds $uck.

Check the fluid with the parking brake on and the car in neutral. If it's not even sticking you have a burnt up tranny, if there is fluid you might have a TCU or many other possible problems not worth dealing with on a new car purchase.

First thing I should mention is I can go pull a tranny out of a car for it for about $85. Second the car is only $300. Third Im jus buying it, cleaning and fixing it up and selling it to make some money. And Fourth I already have a DSM and am very aware of what it costs to maintain one :barf: . Around here the car is worth at least $1000 to someone who needs a decent car to get around in, so I can basicly double my money that i invest. I was just wondering if there was any chance I would not have to change the trans based on the given criteria of the problem. Anyone else out there have any ideas or experience w/ this issue?
