UPDATED!

Well hello there my fellow dsmer's;

I'm looking into purchasing a 2g Eclipse GSX. Yes i'm still looking, i'm trying to find one with good mileage/exterior and interior/engine.

I've been researching for quite sometime now. Coming from a Non-Turbo 98' Honda Civic LX I started to like cars, I purchased a 95' Civic SI engine and did a engine swap with some of my friends and have been working on this car for sometime, there has been quite an extensive amount of work done to this car but performance wise, I want the power which could only come with having a turbo. Most of my friends run EVO's/Sti's/Srt-4's and the likes. I gave this information just to let you know that I am mechanically inclined :thumb:

So far I'm researched using the Stage 1 guide that DSMTuners website gives.

This is my wishlist as of yet. I'm just looking for some input on How Reliable the Parts are, If there is a conflict between any of the parts, Parts i'm missing and should look into.

The day I get the car I will be sending it in for a complete TUNE-UP, and then will proceed to get a Stage 1 Jackson Stroker kit to convert it from 2.0L to 2.3L.

1. Intake Pipe & Filter - Dejon Tool CIP-2gM
2. Boost Gauge - Apex'iL FL Series
3. BoV - Tial
4. Boost Controller - Hallman Evo RX MBC
5. Cat - Back Exhaust - Pit Titanium
6. High Flow Downpipe - Pit SS
7. Exhaust Manifold - Porting Stock
8. Fuel Pump - Supra TT
10. Intercooler - ARC FMIC Kit
11. O2 Housing - Porting Stock
12. Piggyback Systems - DSMLink

Possibly a GT35R Turbo, still doing research on it.

I know there are some parts like wastegates, injectors, turbo, MAF/MAFT, SAFC, etc. These i'm still researching but please send me some input.

I want this street legal, it won't be pure racetrack. I just want an all around fun car with some UMPH!

I'm thinking about a 18G Turbo, still researching for some good ones. I'm also looking for input on reliable 750cc Injectors?

Please any help would be appreciated and I can't wait to get things started.

I'd say you need to pick your power goal, application (fun street car, drag car, autocrosser), and budget first and work backward from that.

Also, you may want to pick your turbo before you pick manifolds, O2 housings, downpipes, and intake pipes, as these may all change with a different turbo. For example, if you get a turbo with a 3" compressor inlet, you'll need an intake pipe with a 3" exit. The FMIC will have to have the right pipe kit, and this will also depend on the turbo (where is the compressor outlet, how big is it, does it have a bolt/flange or a clamp/pipe). If you're going with an external wastegate, you need to know this when you're shopping for exhaust manifolds and downpipes. If you're shooting for over 400hp, you'll want a 3" turboback, and fuel mods to support it. If you want a fun street car or autocrosser, you probably want a smaller A/R turbine housing to give you less lag at the cost of top end power.

You may just want to pick an hp goal and look at other setups that have achieved this and start weighing those different setups against each other, talking to the owners, etc.

One thing that will definitely help is to read the vfaq and every post you can on this forum related to your setup issues. If you can get 50 rep points legitimately, you'll probably know enough by then to have already anwered most of your own questions.

Good luck and keep us posted!:thumb:

Fun Street Car absolutely considering I'm using it for Work/Fun.

Horsepower range my goal is to hit at least 400. So from that i'm going to use your advice and shop around for my turbo and revamp my parts list.

The one thing that will stay constant is the Stroker Kit.

Stroker kit is a bit overkill for 400hp. At the same time, the EvoIII is a bi*** stretched. I would suggest bigger. 20g or 50trim.

Intake: You don't need a 200 dollar one like Injen. A pipe is a pipe. Once you get more aquainted with the DSM community, you will find many small private shops that custom make parts for us for much cheaper.

Apex'i guages are nice, but expensive. Autometer can accomplish the same job.

Find out what size the exhaust is before you buy it. At 400 hp, you will want something 3". Something that starts out 2.5" and goes to 3" after flex is fine.

Chances are, if you buy an FMIC kit you will not need the upper IC pipe. However, you should decide if you want short route or long route and plan accordingly. I don't know how much you know about turbo parts and setups, but you want your UICP to be flanged for whatever bov you're using, and recirculate it unless you have an aftermarket MAF.

The biggest issue here is your tune. MAFT is not necessary, however for about 400 hp you will probably want more than 650 injectors, in which case a standalone engine management becomes necessary. The cheapest and best deal is widely agreed to be DSMLink, something you can research for yourself.

Your 2g manifold should support 400 hp. Just get a port job, and you will be able to bolt up any mitsubishi style turbo. Same story with your O2 housing.

Side note: Well, not so side. This is more important than fuel trims. What tune-up things are you going to do? A shop will look at it and say "oh ok... looks good have fun" or replace parts that you don't need replaced. Definitely do as much stuff as possible yourself. Boost leak test, compression test, plugs, wires, timing belt, fixing anything that's broken, just to name a few. I hope others will add to this list.

Hope you enjoyed my novel.
