Hey there everybody,
Figured I would finally sign up and introduce myself on the forum. So I'm from Ontario about an hour from Toronto area. Iv been searching the forum all summer since I bought my new 97 spyder and I must say you guys and this site are a ton of help, so much so that anything I was searching was there and I never needed to post my own thread.
Anyway as I said this is my 2nd spyder, I had one with a gf back in 2009 at the time she had a 97 Firebird and one day she side swipes a pole at work and couldn't live with it so she went shopping and bought an 04 Spyder from florida that I begged her not to buy! Long story short the car was bought on ebay by her and her step dad for $6000 and never made it home on its own power, motor seized after 111miles from where she picked it up in Florida. So it came down to her dad making her buy it even though he knew nothing about cars and even after told them it was a big mistake.
In the end her parents sold the 04 spyder for $500 and gave her another $6000 cash so me and her could buy another car. At the time I was a huge ford guy as I was driving a 98 Escort that I turbo'd and I also had a 97 Catera that I drove so I was far from a DSM guy, naturally I tried to get her to buy a ford but she was dead set on a spyder no matter what. So after doing loads of research we decided we would look for a 97-99 spyder and nothing else. Well we found a beautiful black 98 GST Spyder with the black/tan interior and a set of 18'' chrome wheels and besides that it was stock for $9800 in Toronto so being amazing I put in the extra $ and we bought it.
She was happy, only catch was that it was manual and she had no clue how to drive it. Between everything going on for the first month I drove it and she drove my Catera till we could teach her.
Well needless to say I fell absolutely in love with the car!!! So we taught her how to drive it and over the next 8 months all I did was put in a new clutch and motor mounts and drove it any chance I got!

Anyway one day she calls and says she got into a car accident with it on the highway, she says i'm not sure how bad it is. Well it was toast!!! She spun the car and a transport took the intire front end off, and i mean everything pretty much down to firewall so that car was toast!!! We broke up not long after in 2010 and iv been looking for one ever since!!
And that's how I became a DSM guy!
So my escort has since been sold and written off buy the buyer last summer, the catera was sold a few years back and Iv had a 98 SVT Contour since then and it ended up getting wrote off.
At the beginning of this summer I came across a great deal on a Silver 97 Spyder for $3200 that I could not refuse, only mods on it were a set on 18"chromes, 14b turbo, 3'' stainless ebay turbo back exhaust and an ebay boost controller. Since the day I bought it I have done nothing but maintenance and upgrades! I have since bought a 98 red gst aswell off a friend who had lots of work like all new seals and rebuilt engine plus a load of mods!!! I took everything including motor and trans and put it into my spyder.
So It went from basically stock at the beginning of this summer when purchased to having a newer motor and trans plus major mods.
I took everything from the red one onto my spyder in a week alone at friends shop so here is what I have done so far:
-Newer rebuilt engine
-Newer trans
-ACT 2900 clutch
-Fidanza Flywheel
-HKS 264/272 Cams
-AEM Adjustable cam gears
-Evo 16G turbo
-Tubular header
-Goodspeed BOV (Recirculated)
-Injen Intake with K&N Filter
-HBC Boost controller
-JDM Power FMIC
-Fuel Pressure regulator
-850cc FIC Injectors
-BBK throttle body (need to replace it with a 1G or NT throttle body)
-ECMLink V1 (Need to send in pics to verify its a legit V1 adapter and chip. It came with the red gst)
-3'' Downpipe
-3'' Thermal R&D Cat back exhaust
-ST Suspension front sway bar
-DC Sports strut brace
-AEM Wideband
I am currently doing a Dodge Avenger black/tan interior swap at the moment cause my heater core went two days after doing the motor swap, plus I have the nasty gray interior. I'm almost done with swap, now I just need to find the rear interior panels from a Spyder in tan and the rear seats in tan to complete.
I think that was enough for one post today,.
