Hello guys,
let me start by introducing myself, I'm nick. Im currently new to the dsm scene, i have always liked them but im into the Camaro Scene, also own 2 of them. I purchased a talon due to driveability, quickness, and the overall convience of having a fast, reliable, daily driver w/ good gas mileage.
the car is a 1990 FWD Talon tsi, 129,xxx on the clock, no rust what so ever, new brakes. i just put a fresh ported rebuilt 14b turbo on it, also has a mbc, kn filter w/ hacked can, removed screens, new ngk pluges, and right now its running open exhaust after the DP. i would just like to get some insight on what i have ahead of me.
how quick do you think the car is right now given a decent launch. i can drive really well (not to boast, but my camaro is a 10.xx six speed car.) but i'm thinking its def capable of low low 14's it pulls really hard for having the boost set at 15psi. some things i have ran on the street and beat were a new g35 coupe w/ the 6speed, a 1999 gtp that went 14.7x at the track, which i spoted out 1 car lenght and the bust, and one by 3 lengths.
im having some minor issues w/ belt squeel, after reading up on it, i've replaced the ALT which took a crap on me, the alt belt, and i'm thinkin i need to replace the PS belt b/c the squeel seems to come only from the pulley where the alt and ps belts go to? I only get a squeel when the headlights are on or due to a heavy electric load on the car (ie: defrost on, blower fan hi). I was at first thinking it was due to the crank pulley but it has no wobble and such like that. Any suggestions- sorry i know this should prolly be in the Problem Diagnosis section but just wanted to include it in this post.
Would it be worth my time to try and make this car decently quick or would i be better off finding a Awd talon, i know thats what i initially wanted but due to the price i couldnt pass this car up, its imaculate.
if i were to sell it where should i start as far as a price.
detailed list below:
1990 talon tsi fwd.
130,xxx miles
no rust, few door dings, otherwise perfect exterior
interior almost perfect, only problems being small tear in right rear passenger seat, and sagging headliner.
mods: kn filter hack air can, mbc set at 15 psi, fuel pump rewire, new plugs/wires, rebuilt slightly ported out 02 housing 14b, w/ SAAB side mount intercooler (bigger than stock, 2core i believe).
test pipe.
i would like to say maybe 3k for the car? is that a good price?
also i need to know how i can get my 245/50/16 nitto drag radials to fit on my talon.
thanks,
Nick
