ok, guys im new to dsm in general and tuners all around until i received my 95 eclipse project i have been into muscle cars the last i did in highschool and it was a 80 firebird i think....but anyway i have a 95 eclipse havent got around to pictures it anyway as far as mods it might have exhaust but havent been able to really look im planning on completely building it back up basically from ground up and its a five speed which ive never drove one, the engine is out right now basically rebuilt new valves, heads ported and polished im in process of dropping the engine and tranny back in, but ive lost my job and currently out of funds but i should start up again in a week or two...anyway once again sorry for rambling just wanted to give you all a feel of whats going on...people have been telling me that i should get a gsx or awd drive eclipse and just use my car for parts on the gsx, so my question is is it worth it would it be an overall faster car? and the reason im considering it is my interior and body needs parts so as of now anyway im gonna have to fine a doner car.... so if the gsx would be the way to go what year would i need, and r the body parts and interior basically the same for both cars? or should i go for a spider i just need some help in pointing me in the general direction of how i should be moving forward also im looking into a 95 i think is the year for it dodge stealth with tranny problems imma get fixed so i can be learning to drive a stick while working on the eclipse/eclipses so experienced dsmers please help and thank you for what ever u can offer to help............

gsx = awd eclipse :thumb: only parts you could use from your 420a is body and interior parts. everything else is pretty much useless. a turbo eclipse/talon have completly different motors in the 95 to 99 than what a NT eclipse/talon have.

but would it be worth changing the car now or should i get another eclipse and fix up what i have now then perhaps in the future switch to a eclipse gsx??? that is what i was i was initially wondering im at a loss here the gsx with all wheel drive seem like it would be faster, or could i mod the engine i have now since ive put the money in to replace the valves and have the head polished and ported? i had planned on putting mods on which ever car i fixed up would the awd make that big of a difference?? and what problems would i run into if i wanted to put a turbo on the 420A engine i have if i kept it? would spiders be the same as the gsxs??

alright i see what ## saying what i think im going to do is go ahead and get my n/t running and then buy a gsx to start a project so i dont get into a big project and not have a daily driver, incase the dodge stealth is gone by the time i get ahold of the guy agian..thanks for all ## help... i should have pics up in a week or two, who knows i might just go ahead and mod the 420a im not gonna be doing a whole lot racing...ive already sunk too much in this car to swap projects now not trying to go agianst anyone but i hate stopping in the middle of something ive started but i do appreciate you guy's experience.

If you want more than 8lbs of boost on the 420a motor you will need to completly build the motors internals. Approx 3k in just the bottom then another few hunred to a few thousand in a turbo setup, fuel mods ect. It will cost you less and be less of a headache just to get a GSX or GST. The few grand you would put into the 420a to be turboed will get you a very nice setup jsut upgrade a gsx or gst.

The 420a motor is a dodge motor. Go to a neon form and see how much money those guys have to dump into their motors to make decent power. With a gsx you can get 300-350 hp with bolt ons and a tune. Your talking 2-3k plus the car.
To make the same power on the 420a It will cost you that plus internals in the motor and drivetrain most likely.

After i buy a fmic and get my car tuned correctly i should be arounbd the 350hp range. I have about 2200 in after market parts

No spiders are not like a GSX. They are about 400 to 500 lbs heavier and its a fun project to make them AWD. If i remember right spiders were never a AWD car

some spyders come turbo. some come non turbo. FWD only. only difference interior/body wise would be the back seats and trunk, besides the obvious roof.

not AT ALL like a gsx. could however be made into a gsx convertible like stated above

A Spyder model, is a convertable. GSX is a 4g63 turbo powered All Wheel Drive, and the GST is the 4g63 turbo powered Front Wheel Drive.

Good choice on finding an all wheel drive, if you go talon, the TSI is the 4g63turbo powered version but there is no designator to wheather it will be front wheel drive or all wheel drive. So you will have to look under the car for a drive shaft and rear differential.

Well blood, glad to have you in the dsm community. For someone starting out, a simple gsx or gst question is difficult to answer. It really depends on your driving style and purpose. A lot of people will say a 400 pound heavier all wheel drive eclipse won't keep up with with a fwd one of similar modding. Drag racing or autoX are kinda the things to think about. I am pro AWD, so that changes my options a little. Either way dsm's are fun to drive and I hope you figure out which you might prefer.
