New to dsm... 99 eclipse 420a motor siezed need help

I bought this eclipse for $500 just needn a cheap daily driver to get to work in and sooner or later pep it up a little. Guy said head gasket was blown which wasnt a big deal to me ive worked on alot of motors but new to 4cyls... Anyways. Apparently it has beeb sittn for a while so i changed the lower rad hose thats where the blown headgasket came from. Drained the oil which about half a gallon of anitfreeze came out then good oil NO METAL SHAVINGs so i tryed to get it to turn over and it wont budge even tryed pullin it down the road and popn the clutch didnt even move a pinch jyst smoked the clutches i think... What should i do? I can get another motor from pick n pull for 250 but dunno if its good hate to change it all then it not be... U think maybe the bearings are siezed on crank? Or cams bent? I dunno what commonly happens when it gets hot enuf to blow head gasket? What should i do? I believe im capable of rebuilding it or chamging bearimgs what ever i just need it fixed asap and only have bout 300 or so to spend! Please help!

Did you make sure you poured some coolant into the valve cover with the oil to help cool the motor?

Huh? When i got the car it was already locked up blown head gasket and been sitn for a while... Since i bought it ive not got it to turn over at all its locked up solid... All i did to it was changed rad hose, and change oil so far

Was that post a vilation of rule 2? Coolant in the oil came from the blown head gasket... My reasoning is the people who had the car must have been driving it when lower rad hose blew and motor got hot and blew the head gasket so everything else must work good on the car if i can just get it to turn over

Chances are that engine is toast. If they blew the head gasket because they overheated the engine, then the head is going to be warped. Also, since a significant amount of coolant was mixed in with the oil there is a good chance all of the bearings are ruined. Pull the head and pull the pan and see where your at, but it sounds like you will need a replacement engine.

Hmm... Thats what i was afraid of... Should i rebuild this one? Or get another? You think pick-n-pull is a good idea?

you got a 50)50 shot with a pick and pull. id pull the engine you have all the way down and see what you have first. hey man wrenching is free.

That is true... I think ill start by pullin the cam caps and see if it will spin. If not ill pull the whole head and see of it spins. If it still wont ill loosen the rods and mains then it will have to spin.

id just pull the head . it wont matter if you pull just the cams thats only gonna tell you that the heads gotta come off anyway. but thats just a thought

Ill pull the head tonight and see what happens... I hope thats all thats wrong with it

Well i was n the process of removin the head and it i a lil time consuming so i just loosend the cams to make sure i wasnt wasting my time and once i loosened both cams the engine freed up looks like a new head should do the trick... That engine bay is WAY too small
