hey guys, when I purchased my 91 gsx about 3 weeks ago, tires on car is in pretty bad shape. my tire dept difference I believe is past the 1/8th inch allowance I am allowed. front looks pretty bold and back is fairly decent. I have driven car about 60 miles, however I am getting worried some thing will get ruined if I keep driving it on the old tires. car most of the time is in the back yard under the car cover, so it is not being used that much yet due to waiting for rebuild time. my question is, on the door it shows 205/55 16's. I found a local shop that carries the kumho 711 205/50 16 for $337.68 out the door. what do you guys think? any disadvantage going the smaller tires? thanks

You probably will not notice a difference and it certainly won't do any harm.

no harm, but is there any performance pro's and con's? is this a good price? is there any good online vendors for tires that I could get better deals with, especially on better tires? thanks for the replies.

Dont buy the 711's they are complete crap. I had them on my Vr6 for 15,000 miles until they were trashed. I didnt drive abnormally hard or road race it. If you are looking for a good cheap realiable tire, try BFG G-Force sports. As long as i have had them i can say nothing but good things, good traction, good price, and a very reliable name.
