1G new talon owner having problems with idle surge

I just bought my 92 talon esi yesterday. i bought it knowing about the idle problem. Yesterday when i was driving around town at stop lights it would jump from 1000 rpm to 1500 rpm. I checked out the idle set screw after i got some information of this website. Mine has a single lead wire that comes out of it. I unplugged it yesterday and it quit the idle surge. I dinked around with it today and adjusted the height on it. now it idles at a solid 2000 rpm with no up and down. I tried setting it down and still nuthing happened still idles high. If anyone could give me some input i would really appreciate it. I really like my new talon and i want to keep it running for a while. thanks jaime kussmaul

Sounds like you turned the IPS (Idle position switch) to far in and now your holding the throttle plate open. You need to go back and reset it. Connect an ohm meter to the connector and ground. Back it off until the switch just opens (no continuity) then turn it in 15/16's and lock it down.

To set the Base Idle Speed you need ground both the DLC pin 10 in the footwell and the timing set connector in the engine compartment to temm the ECU to lock the ISC in its default position. Then adjust the BISS on top front of the TB to get 750 rpm.

If you have idle surge then you'll need to check that you ISC is working, that you have a clean TB, and that you don't have any vacuum leaks.
