alright so i got my t04b vtrim turbo put on, i start my car up and it starts smoking, i think ok its from all the oil and shit its just gunna burn it off, well i go to take it for a ride and drive it for alittle bit then i step on it to pick up speed and my car DIES out on my, turbo doesnt boost up much from the stock boost gauge i have, autometer is coming in the mail soon, so it will die out on me whenever i pick up speed, so i pull it back in the garage and i take the cap off to fill some radiator fluid and it just poors smoke out hissing and screaming out from under the cap, i poor about mable 1/4 of the bottle of fluid i had left, anyone got any ideas what the hell is going on with my car

need help FAST please!

Sounds like a classic case of backwards upgrading. Aside from the FP, you have nothing on that car to support the turbo you just put in.

Take it out, and put the T25 back in. Buy the following:

650-660 injectors
AFC
Pocketlogger (if you can't afford a shop to tune the car)

Once you have these parts THEN put the T04 back in.

You engine is hungry for a SHIT load more fuel than you are giving it. Engines don't like when you do that, they are prone to giving you the finger when you do this.

You should also know that it isn't exactly safe to pop the radiator cap when the car is at operating temp.. that fluid gets kinda warm. Let it cool then add coolant.

Yeah man, you need the supporting mods before you just toss on a bigger turbo. You need boost gauge, boost controller, fuel upgrades, SAFC or DSMLINK, FPR, turbo back exhaust before tossing on the new turbo. :nono:

Check out the Upgrade path on this site before upgrading anything else on your car. Or you will have to sell everything you have for a new motor.

That's good/safe advice. :thumb:

I've seen many people mod backwards and then you see them coming back two weeks later starting a thread like, "Why did my motor blow up?"....

Start small; most upgraded turbos need supporting mods. :dsm:

yada yada yada... that's textbook advise. YES that is the appropriate and safe way to do it but it IS possible to run a larger turbo with little to no fuel mods. I AM NOT saying that it is safe nor am i promoting ANYTHING over stock [ whatever the WG pressure is ] boost on the to4b.

i ran my e316G on 16 psi on JUST a fuel pump [ and other mods, but no other fuel mods ] for a good 8 months before i got my SAFC2 to street tune it.

just plug your WGA to the compressor nipple to get stock boost. this will ensure you to not overboost [ assuming no boost creep, but also be wary of that ].

as far as your studder/die problem, just go back and recheck everything you touched during your install. check all bolts/oil lines/intake/etc and this time do it SLOW. make sure you did everything right and double check that even. then run a intake test.

goodluck and don't go over 50% throttle until you get that boost gauge on and working.

Wow! I don't want to be mean, but you can't do that.

If you were buying an upgraded turbo, you should've known that you need supporting mods.

That's why they call them supporting mods.

i know, i got the 190lph fuel pump, dual stage mbc, and the gauges coming soon. im about to go install the fuel pump right now! and wait for the gauges to come then install the boost controller. what size injectors should i get would i be safe with 550's or should i get 650's...?
and the safc. coming soon too

makes me feel better that im following the right path to a turbo upgrade and less sympathy for someone that just goes out and buys a big turbo and has problems. FMIC kit, 1gTB and injectors......and i can almost smell my TO4B.:D

DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. You cant go to sleep slow and wake up fast tommorow.
However, good luck fixing the prob.

upgraded,
Although you are right, dont be so quick to jump to conclusions. I think mattspyder's t25 blew out and he needed a replace. so why not upgrade right?

besides, like I keep saying, you can run a bigger turbo on a car. you just have to take a couple simplistic safety steps before running it.

yeah theres not really a problem anymore, i dont drive, im waiting on my fic 650's to come, then ill be installing those, and my 190 lph fuel pump. and dejon dual stage boost controller. then ill run to auto zone and pick up a boost gauge and install that in there and see what happens

Thats what happened to me. I've been running the T04B for a few months now on stock fuel and haven't had any problems what so ever. I'm also boosting at 11 psi, and thats when I boost. Just drive like a granny, don't boost, save your gas mileage then upgrade your fuel.

ok now heres the million dollar question.. what should i use to tune my car, i cant really aford dsm link so thats probably out of the question,
should i just go with a safc 2 and a datalogger. which would be my best bet for a daily driver.
forgot to add that i already have a laptop, so ive heard of ppl using them as a datalogger, so how would that be a better way to go. im looking at saving money but getting something that will work good.
