Ok, I'll start with, I have searched for info on this topic and have found a lot of good info, but not specific to my needs.
my suspension is completely stock. I'm now installing KYB AGX shocks to replace the blown out stock ones. I have extra stock springs lying around, so I'm just going to use those, since the ones on the car have been riding on the springs for a few thousand miles now. I do know now to assemble the shocks, but I'm not sure of all the parts I need to put on the new ones.
the stock ones have the yellow bumpstops, then a metal cup that goes over the bumpstop. Do I need that metal cup? or can I just buy new bumpstops from a mitsu dealer? If so, then do I need spacers or washers or something to compensate for the extra room that the cup took up on the shock rod (or whatever its called), cause it seems as if I don't put that metal cup on, theres an extra 1/4" of room, and when I put the assembled shocks on the rear of the car, they started moving around and jumping all over the place, so I got out and took the rubber cover off it and the rod was all loose inside the spring and the shock nuts were all the way down the threads and theres now about 1/4" of play between the nuts and the upper strut mount.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, car is immobile and I'm at a loss
