New sending unit, stock oil pressure gauge still reads nothing

My stock oil pressure gauge needle sits on the bottom and doesnt move at all. However the oil dummy light is off and the car is pumping oil. Replaced the sending unit and it still doesnt work. The connection on the sending unit is clean and makes a connection. The wires down there also seem good.

So what can I check on the cluster and/or in other places? Does anybody have a picture of which prongs are for oil pressure? I searched but couldnt find a picture of anything.

Screw it. Just bought an aftermarket oil pressure gauge instead of fooling around with the stock one.

Will it throw a CEL if the stock oil pressure sending unit is unplugged? I replaced mine with an aftermarket sending unit and gauge and got a CEL after about 5 minutes. I didnt get a chance to scan it yet so thats why I was wondering.

It will not throw a CEL, i dont use my stock gauge or sending unit. Honestly the stock gauge really doesnt tell you anything other than you have pressure. If you are doing any performance work or are running the car hard then an aftermarket gauge is the only way to go. Id much rather know exactly what my pressure is than just know its got pressure.

You could check for voltage where the oil pressure gauge pin is, or you could apply voltage to it to see if the needle jumps. The gauge on the cluster may just be bad. Swapping clusters with a known working one would be an easier way to test this.

You should not get a CEL for not having the stock one plugged in, it doesn't go to the ECU.

Are you positive you have pressure? Have you jacked the car up and looked for oil leaks from the oil pan, ect? Oil likes to leak from just about everywhere on this motor. And knowing you have some pressure is better then not knowing at all so the stock guage isint so bad. I still use it because I need the jay racing relocation kit to install my sender.

I definitely do not have any leaks. I have also replaced the sending unit. I'm not sure what's going on. I just want the gauge working. I don't care if it's accurate or not. I'm tired of seeing a dead needle.

My needle's stuck at the bottom too and the dummy light flickers sometimes at idle. Did you ever have any luck fixing yours?
