It has been a long month and a half and I am frustrated as hell. So if this post seems like I'm bitching it is because i am. I hope all of you can give me some good feed back as to why my Brand New Remanufactured Motor is giving me problems.

It Came as a long block ready to go and be bolted in.

Well here are the current stats.

Motor has 180 Miles

Motor has burned a little over 3/4 of a quart in that time.

Motor burns lots of oil at idle and very little during shifts.

Compression Test Results: 132 131 135 132
I know this is super low.... I am assuming this is because the rings are still seating???

Leak Down Test
#1 #2 #3 #4
8% 11% 12% 9%

Is this normal or what WTF is the problem. Thanks for your time guys any help will be greatly appreciated

I'm not releasing the information on which company this motor came from yet..... I am in a battle with there warranty department as of right now.

Run non synthetic oil, check the turbo for leaking oil sels, replace the pcv valve, vent the second nipple on the vc to atmosphere, and give it 500-1k miles before worrying about compression, oil burning, and leakdown.

As per their break in procedure the shop that installed it followed these steps

1. Verify all fluid levels before start up.
2. after starting engine, verify proper oil pressure. Maintain engine speed at 1500 – 2000 RPM for 5 to 10 minutes. Re-adjust timing.
3. immediately after initial start-up check dipstick for water in oil. If moisture immediately shut down engine.
4. drive engine at variable speeds for the first 30 min(not exceeding 50MPH) this procedure increases ring pressure against cylinder walls and will aid in seating the rings. Recheck engine for leaks. Check coolant, get general operation of all systems.

I am running regular oil 10w40 havaline. replaced pcv valve. and checked turbo seals.

Oh and it throughs out blue smoke for exhaust at idle And on Startup a Cloud of light blue smoke

Smoking at idle indicates, to me at least, leaking valve steam seals. I've got the same problem if my car idles for more than a minute or so. That's not exactly the break-in procedure I would have followed, so can't comment on that.

soooo..... on start up its normal to see a cloud of light blue smoke and at idle for it to roll out the exhaust?! WTF

No one ever said it was normal but if you run synthetic on the breakin, it is possible. You didnt give that info so I was just trying to give something helpful. If you are going to reply like a dick, dont ask for help. Call the company you got it from and bellyache to them, not us.

And if it is smoking that bad, you are burning more than .75qt in 180 miles. Smoking like that is more like 1+ qts per 100 miles.

Sorry dude not trying to sound like an ass... Just looking for some help..... and 3 posts up i said im running regual 10w40. not synthetic.

Oh and the engine company says that the motor is fine because of the leak down and compression tests

Update: The company keeps saying that the turbo charger is the cause of this problem.. I told them who do you want me to have test the turbo to prove that it isnt the problem.. So today or tomorrow its going to a, Their words "Turbo Certified Shop" for testing. I said "If the turbo charger is ok then what". They said they would then "take care of it". What ever that means... Ill keep you all posted

Update: I drove the car for 450 more miles.... During this time it stated having ignition problems. Due to the 1 cylinder plug fouling out because of oil deposits. After the store that installed it checked out the plugs and called the manufacture, we are now getting a whole new long block and returning the one that’s in the car. Oh and the total amount of oil burned in 550 miles 3 quarts
