hey guys i just had the engine in my 97 gst rebuilt after it blew up on me two days after i bought it! i have the car and am breaking it in as we speak, but i was wanting to get some input from other fellow dsm'rs on what mods you would do to reach my goal which is 300HP. I see the Tech thread that shows everything you need but i wanted to see what some of you guys think i will need to do the job and to do it safely, this will be a everyday driver which is why i want to stick right at 300 and not much higher. as of now i have a new EVO III Big 16g, MBC. boost is set low at 10psi since i have the stock injectors and will be purchasing some new ones shortly, with summertime rolling in im out of school so i can work full time and this is when i like to do my work to cars. so what do you guys think i should go for mods wise to reach the goal, im guessing intake and exhaust? what other mods or if not those what mods? like i said i know what the tech articles say but just looking to get some light shed on people who are modding right now and trying to reach the same goals as i am.

id get a walbro 190 or 255. a front mount(fmic), the stock side mount really isnt enough to handle a 16g. and maybe and 2 1/2-3inch downpipe and exhaust. im in the progress of getting my 90 tsi running again and im doing similar mods.

Get a good flowing intake and exhaust for starters. Make sure you get a really nice downpipe, these alone can make a lot of power. A front mount intercooler for sure. A bigger fuel pump and probably bigger injectors. Might need a piggyback tuner. You should be pretty close to 300 with that setup. If you wanna go faster you can always start finding things to remove from the car.

whats the differences between the 190 and 255 and what will this mod do for me?

The difference is how much the fuel pump can flow. Walbro 190lph (liters per hour) or 255lph.
with a 255lph pump you will need an apfr.

A 255 will be able to pump more and will give you much more room to play with, along with the fuel pump you need to do a fuel pump rewire so you're fuel pump will get the power that it needs. A 255 pump will also require an AFPR (Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator), without it you will overrun the stock Fuel Pressure Regulator.

Intake and Exhaust is good for starters, but if you really want that 16g to show you can go ahead and start getting fuel mods and a way to tune (SAFC, ECMLink, etc...) the injectors you're going to purchase.

yea i have been looking for a good SAFC, so say i go 190 680cc injectors, safc, wideband, FMIC, echaust and intake i should be good?

If you are running a 255 with the stock fpr and fuel injectors but have a method of tuning such as an safc your car can run hard till you rack up some money for some better injectors and a fpr. I tested a gst of my friend's with this setup and his car ran hard and didn't fuel cut or run too lean or rich.
For your goal a 255, fpr, 650cc, full 3" turboback and a good tune with an safc would be more than enough to accomplish your goal.
A 255 could be had for the same price as a 190 as well as a set of 650cc could be had for the same price of 550's, so why not get the bigger stuff ? Think ahead, you might want to crank the boost up one day, and it's always good to leave room for improvement. Just my 2 cents.

i get what you are saying i just didnt want to get the bigger pump and then not be able to put it on for a while if i didnt have my tuning mod yet, but i definately see what your saying, what do you also think about Meth kit?

i wouldnt go with a meth kit untill you have done some mods to the fuel systems
