Mt. Holly,
I installed a race motor in my friends 1G because the old one was shot. 9:1 comp ratio .20 over, weiseco pistons, pauter rods, bs removed, all new oem parts, o-ringed block w/ stock head gasket w/ copper applied, arp everything, pulley, fidanza fly, act 2600. Stock rebuilt head, stock side mount intercooler but has 2.5 uicp, stock drivetrain and suspension. Fuel system is walbro 255, rc 550's, 2g mas, SAFC2, NO FPR. 3 in turbo back small 16G.

I'm trying to think how much HP the thing will make and what times to expect at the track running 20lbs of boost and tuned. The motor is bomb proof and we decided to build it right the first time. When he gets money he will get a front mount, fpr, and a bigger turbo but i want to know what I should expect at this point. :dsm:

9:1, small16, 20 lbs, sidemount, won't happen. Too much heat, lots of detonation, might be able to pull it off with alky...or c16

Is this engine tech?

I agree. I think you can expect a nasty amount of heatsoak and pulled timing. I see heatsoak on my Big 16G after two full pulls on the stock IC at 20 psi with an 8.5:1 C/R so I know you'll hit it that much faster. I don't induce enough knock to pull timing on an 11:1 A/F (3-5 counts) but if you're anywhere near 10.5:1 or 11:1 you most certainly will.

Looks like it's time for an FMIC or at least a Dejon Big Sidemount. The other option is what definitiveno mentioned: C16 or methanol injection.

Your whole setup is way overkill and quite pointless. First off putting a 16g on a built motor is just plain ridiculous, but what makes you think you can get away with a side mount when even people with stock motors and 16gs upgrade the intercooler BEFORE they build their motors? I will need a bigger turbo and a front mount to make use of this car and engine.

Quote " the motor is bomb proof"

Such a motor does not exist

Too much boost, with insufficient cooling, and marginal fuel = melted pistons.

Until the I/C and/or the turbo are upgraded, keep the boost at a safe level.
