I bought my buddies GST. I originally bought the car for the engine, ecu, and harness. But since its a basically complete car, its almost a shame to kill it. All it needs is a m/t transmission and I will get one whenever I find a used one for a good deal. I want to get the car running, finish some small bodywork, and just spray paint it flat black, then completely smoke out the head and taillights, and black out the windows. I will then gut most of the interior and any other useless weight. Basically I want to use it as a dedicated drag car. It probly wont be too fast, but for the money I will have in it, I wont mind pulling it to the track and beating the crap out of it, and improve my driving in the process. After I get it running, I am going to leave the engine completely stock, then put ATLEAST a 75 wet shot on it. Cheap, easy power.
I guess I will write a quick list of the mods I want to do.

Engine:
New t belt, BS elim.
Atleast 75 wet shot, maybe 100.
Used tranny, and cheap race clutch.

Suspension:
Probly just put some coilspring boosters in the rear springs, and some spring squeezers on the front springs to shift most of the weight of the car on the front tires.

Interior:
-Stripped to bare essentials.
-Put on a cheap Grant steering wheel from my store(to get rid of the airbag)
-And throw in a cheap TunerFX seat that has been in the back of the storage unit at my store for like a year (some ricer ordered and never came and got it, and everyone forgot that it is back there).
-Cheap harnesses
-Probly add a boost gauge.

Outside:
-Cheap used smiley face front end and cheap side skirts.
-Finish filling in the spoiler holes and antenna holes.
-Fix one small dent.
-Sand the primer and rattle can the car flat black.
-Dark smoke out the tails and headlights.
-Tint out the whole car 5 percent and tint out the windshield.

Wheels/tires:
-Cheap slicks.
-Im going to talk to the guy that does all my welding and see if he can put a band in 2 of the steelies, to widen them by 2 or 3 inches.

Heres what we have already done:
-Dericed and cleaned the interior.
-K&N FIPK
-Stripped the 7 layers of old paint and primed.

Thats about all I can think of right now. Tell me what you guys think about it along with any suggestions, or just talk crap if you want to, IDC. I think it will be a fun car. 300 hp in a stripped car should be pretty sick.

Heres some pics. Disregard some of the stuff on the car, a ricer had it before us.

To a certain extent.

Prep and bodywork....is hard work and very time consuming. It took me a week (working everyday) to prep and do light filler work on my civic.

Though spraying isnt hard....its still easy to F up. Keep in mind I paint with a $25 harbor freight paint gun.

It was a freebie. Its a honda header. It wont work on my civic though. I'm going to try it on my cousins prelude.

I say keep doing what your doing bro, i personally like taking on projects like this and do everything i can by myself to save money but yours is turning out pretty damn good for being on a budget! And just think about it, its a weight reduction right off the bat by getting all that body filler off ROFL Im sorry for asking this if you already covered it, but any plans for the motor? A built motor? A stock motor with some mods? or what do you have in mind?

i had a riced out gst, got rid of that real quick, lot of kids and ricers paint there hondas and eclipses green. its a very ugly color. easy to tell noobs apart though

Thanks for the kind words. I do everything myself, not so much because of the cost, but for the learning experience. For the engine....just maintanence, BS elim, and I'd like to do probably 100 wet shot of spray.

Because I really dont care about this car. And I scored the 2ga stuff for stinky cheap.

Smoked the headlights and taillights and fog lights. Will also be doing all the other lights. Not completely done with them yet thats why, they arent all on the car.

Stripped the interior out. Also found this cheap seat in the storage unit behind my store, so I bought it:

I also redid the headliner last night. Never done one before. I went to an upholstery shop and the real headliner material was $28 a yard....F that. Went to walmart and bought some black material for $3 a yard. Also encorporated a raised mitsubishi logo into the headliner. Let me know what you think. I will get some better photos of it im the car.
Forgot to take a pic before I ripped the carpet off, so I just layed it back on there LOL.

Thanks! The only thing I'm lacking to get it running is a clutch. I'm still trying to decide which one I'm going with. Probably going to do a ACT in this car whereas I went with a Fidanza in my Spyder. After I get my clutch I will put it in along with the tranny and all new seals, and new rear main seal.

The logo I cut from some thin paper/cardboard/foam kinda stuff I found at my grandmas house.

The lights I sprayed with VHT nightshade black, then followed by clearcoat, and wetsand/buff.
