New personal best with the small 16g tonight

To get to the final for 4clyder class i had to beat a 12.22, with less than 2 minutes left in qualifying i went [email protected] to bump the pinto out of the final. So now its me vs my buddies DSM which ran a 12.14 that night.

So We line up, almost the same R/T but i kill him out of the hole, 1.687 to his 2.283. He wasnt having great luck launching the car that night, it would either Go great or bog and luck have it, the car bogged and almost stalled on him. But he came back on the big end with almost a 118mph trap. So he wanted a rematch, i accept of course. All in fun anyway.

2nd race we switch lanes and go again. This time R/T's were not even close, i had the best light ever for me a .066 to his .539. And i had my best 60ft of 1.65, went down the track to beat my previous best set that night at 12.17 with a [email protected]! With my freind was close behind me but with the R/T difference i won again. His car is tons faster than mine, i just got lucky thats all.

So it went down like this for the timeslips.

All this on the small 16g, getting colser to my goal of 11's with the car still full weight. But i dont know if i can get there. I might try a few more PSi (only at 24psi tonight) but who knows by the next time i go, i might have a new turbo :D
 
Congrats! You will hit 11's in no time. Do you know what the record with a s16g is? I was looking to see how far I could get on one, and the stock SMIC, but am still working through bugs and doubt I'll make it to the track before spring.

How's that thing doing at 24psi? Still steam left in it at high RPMs? I think I'm going to be cutoff around 20psi with the puny SMIC.

I tuned the car at ~26psi, it doesnt even come close to holding that pressure but it helps. I should have stepped it up, but when you are running good it makes it hard to look down at my boost guage (i have a bezel guage pod) and make sure exactly what you are running, last i saw it was 24psi. And yes there is still room left i think with this turbo, im running it to 7500 in 1st, 7300 in 2nd and 7300 in 3rd to drop me right back into my power band for 4th. So it does pretty well up top even though its dropping boost like a mofo.

And it wont do 20psi on a stock smic, you will heat soak it quickly.

Thanks, i just wish i knew why i lost 2mph in the 1/8 on my second pass but gained a little on the big end. Maybe shift points or somthing. Was my best 60ft, best R/T, best 1/8 Et, and best 1/4 ET all in one pass, i had a good time :D
 
What is your current mod list? That is a very fast time on the small 16G. Congrats. Your 60ft time is awesome as well. You seem to know what you are doing behind the wheel.

You're probably losing boost at high RPMs because of the stupid 34mm WG. Put a standard flapper 7cm housing back on and it'll hold 25+ to redline. You're running well with it, but considering that you have cams you should be trapping a bit higher. There's definitely a few more mph left in it. :thumb:

Thats what im thinking, i was doing 107 with a cat and pump gas before the cams. And now i can only get out 112mph barley. I was hoping for 115ish, I need to weigh my car b/c that could have somthing to do with it. And yes its losing boost up top major, will fall down from 24 to around 19psi by redline. :( I would like to try and go faster on this turbo, but i dont think its worth the time. I can slap somthing bigger on (even a evo 16g) and bust into the 11's no question (sorry for the bench racing here but i think thats what would happen)
