New Muffler Suggestions

Ok well first off when i bought the eclipse a few months ago the guy who had it before had a shop do a custom 2.5" cat back. the only thing was he put on some ricey, cheap, ebay muffler :thumbdown it sounds horrible. its horribly loud, and shits out at about 3k rpms. so ive decided to get a new one. Does anyone have any good suggestions on a muffler thats not too loud, but u can still hear it. thanks

i have the 2nd one, raw titanium. it may not be a name brand but its definetly the highest quality muffler i've seen. plus its real titanium and it doesnt break up at any rpm
however if your looking for quietness get a magnaflow

though i can vouch for crappy ebay mufflers, anything you put on the N/T is gonna sound all raspy and crappy. my cousins on his 3rd exhaust setup on his eclipse, first was a 2.5" catback with no resonator and obx muffler. loud and raspy. then he put the resonator and got a muffler that was supposed to sound a little louder and deeper than stock. sounded like a giant bumblebee with duct tape over its mouth to try to muffle it. then he went with what he has now, a 3" catback with resonator, and a obx N1 style muffler, and it still sounds all raspy and has this sickening gurgle when hes slowing down and downshifting.

i even had a guy in a maroon eclipse gs try to tell me his car was a gst. i told him i know DSM's so much i can tell the difference in the exhaust tone. then he asked me "whats a dsm?".

but hopefully the magnaflow sounds good. just dont get a flowmaster, my freinds old neon had one and it was the most horrible thing i have ever heard, even worse than my cousins gs. flowmasters+4cylinders=bad.

I've heard Magnaflow on NT Hondas, it sounded nice, didn't break up. Reasonably quiet too.

Go to Magnaflow's site and click SOUNDS. They have an N/T Eclipse there to give you an idea on how they will sound on your car.

STOP making assumptions before you even check the links... first off the first auction is for an EVOTION titanium muffler.... this isnt that titanium "style" evotion is a pretty big company, and that muffler sells for 200$ by itself anywhere else.. and the second one is, like i said made of titanium too. I OWN one of these...the quality is top notch...and its pure titanium. it is loud but thats how they are made to be... if you want any quietness go with the magnaflow and be done with it.... its an exhaust, you either get the best possible flow without care for noise or get what you like sound wise......but please do not group all ebay items as those cheap ss pieces of crap.

oh and besides, i know a few people around here with name brand new Apexi n1 exhaust which still sounds like shit when its on an n/t.....i dont know why but they all sound like fartcans

Ebay stuff are sometimes cool. You save alot by using generic no-name brands like strut bars, piping, mufflers, intakes, etc.

But when it comes to important components like turbos, brake components, etc. it is good not to skimp on them. You can also find them on ebay from those people who no longer have a DSM and are in the process of parting the car or from those who are upgrading to higher HP levels.

yeh...but its not a classification.... apexi n1 mufflers sell on ebay...and they arent junk..its all in the auction.. the evotion and that raw titanium muffler are highest quality available...that evotion especially...they made it into a science... the other one, hes a good ebayer and i can vouch for the quality of his titanium mufflers
