Just curious. Why am I still listed as a "new member"?
I have been on the forum for over a year and have 100+ posts.

Read the rules, you have to get points from other members to get put as proven. Now I think I deserve some points for telling you that.

On the contrary...

How to build your reputation and earn points:
The best way to build your reputation is to answer tech questions in great detail. Only give advice on subjects you have first-hand experience with. Do not post hearsay. Use good grammar and the spell check feature. If you're a helpful contributing member in our community, people will notice and give you positive reputation points. If you've received negative points from a Wisemen or a Moderator, do not post complaints about it. They will only give you negative points if you're spreading obvious misinformation and inaccurate tech info. Start contributing in a positive way so that you can offset those negative points with positive points. Do not ask for negative points to be removed.

If we find people abusing the system, we'll take away all of their points and knock them back down to New Member status. We don't mind if you ask members, who you've bent over backwards to help, to give you reputation points (via private message), even though that's not in the spirit of the system. However, members should not publicly ask for reputation points, and should not leave their username when giving points to others as a way of trying to attract reciprocal points. Do not attempt to contact other members and ask them to "swap" points as a way of padding your points total. That's considered abuse and you'll lose some privileges for it.

I had the same question and I asked a mod... actually Ill just post the exact response I got...

Chris,

About a month ago, we converted the rep system so that only wisemen and moderators could add to a member's reputation. There was an unfortunate amount of rep swapping going on and we felt that this was the best way to control it.

I hope that explains it and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Andy

So be helpful and curtious and youll be recognized :thumb:
