Hey everyone, I just swapped my 91 miata for a 96 talon tsi AWD, I loved the car, but only drove it about 30 miles before I needed a tow truck because the clutch went out.. I'll throw some pics up when i get around to taking some. Mods list is small, just a Greddy BOV, Apexi EBC, and an unknown brand CAI..

Quick question, sorry if it's already answered, I don't have time to scavenge around right now:
I hear DSM's can get crankwalk, I was curious if there are any symptoms or signs of it?

Search bro, likely to happen slim. Sounds like you got a beat dsm and need to really focus on pm's. Will be a strongcar if you take the time to learn what you got.

The chance of getting crankwalk is very slim. Your also going to want to probably replace the timing belt while you have it all apart anyways (If it breaks, your boned and it's cheap insurance). Maintenance is key in these cars before you start modding.

Is your blow off valve recirculated back into the intake pipe?

You can check the end play of the crank if your worried about crankwalk. I wouldn't be.

You have to be more specific on how your clutch kicked the bucket. I bought a 98 tsi and had to do a rebuild because of crankwalk. But you'll have to do better then that, what were you doing at the time, what noise did it make and from where, things like that. People on this forum are incredibly helpful but you need to put in the effort to do your best to explain it, and search around yourself to try to find someone else who had similar issues to avoid repeat posts. You wont have trouble finding 100 things on crankwalk on these forums, find something similar to your symptoms and try for that.

If your clutch went out I doubt it was crankwalk, your clutch will still work, just your car will die when you press it in, or the rpms will drop a lot.
