Well, I think I'd like to make my interior blue, since I've just put in my new pioneer deck, and it completely glows blue.

I think I'll just keep the scheme, and go blue on the interior. So, I went on ebay last night, and picked up Blue Reverse Glow Gauges, new Blue Neon Pedals, and two 15" Sound Activated Blue Neons. I plan on putting the 2 sound activated neons somewhere down by the floor boards, maybe under the dash a little, on both sides. I hope it looks good.. I'll also accent the interior with some nice blue paint. I hope it all turns out fine.

Here's a link to my car on CarDomain: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/752041

What do you think? How well do you think it'll turn out? OMG

Please give me your opinions.

Thanks a lot!

My 2G looks hooootttt witha ll the blue. I actually rigged up neons under my dash to come on when I open the car doors. I also bought a buch of blue LEDs off ebay and hooked them all up in all the stock dash switches etc (like the cruise switch) Perdy damn hott if you ask me. I also have the blue indiglo gauges...thats what prompted me to go blue.

I have to be honest tho, when i first starded reading yer threat, I thought you meant "go all blue" as in carpet, steering wheel, seats, etc etc etc. I was about to say **cough*cough*ricer*cough*** LOL :p

Hah, good thing you kept reading..

Nah, not all blue, that'd be retarded. I nice mix of blue's accent on various piece will look nice I think. It'd be cool to have the neons on like yours, when you open that door.

Thanks for the comment man. :thumb:

Yeah duder! No problem!! BTW - I dunno about the 1G cars, but for mine, when you close the doors the factory lights fade out, and the neons actually do the same (since I jus thooke them striaght up). Its pretty sweet...

Heres how to do the neons to come on with the door (that is if you dont already know how):

If you have factory lights under the dash or near the dash to light up the floor on the 1G, then it is real easy, all you need to make sure of is that you get the neons that have the seperate transformer. They cant me the kind where the x-former is in the cig lighter plug....

1. Locate your bulbs under the dash and take the socket out of the plastic housing. It is usually a twist-out thing, where you turn the socket 1/2 turn or so to remove (usually to change the bulb).

2. Cut off the socket on one side of the car and take the bulb out of the other side. Make sure to test with a multimeter or something to test continuity (which wire is + and which is ground).

3. Cut the cig lighte plug off the wire that goes to the transformer and simply hook that sucker up. Usually, the one with the stripe on the x-former wire is the one that is +.

4. Mount the neons and hide the x-former somewhere and BAM! Yer done!!

You can also get fancy if you want and hook up a switch to them so you can turn them on independantly like this:

[EDIT - I HAD A FREAKIN ASCII WIRING DIAG BUT IT GOT ALL MESSED UP. ASK ME AND ILL MAKE IT AGIAN IN PAINT AND ATTACH THE IMAGE FOR YOU IF YOU WANT IT]

You may not even need the extra part going to the ground from the x-former box. The arrow -->] is a diode. You may need to put that in, since that switch may make yer car think the doors are open LOL. Another thing you can do is hook it up with a 3 way switch with the common going to the power source, and one side to the neons power and other to the actual bulbs (leaving them in place) to switch between the two...I can post a diagram for that too if you want :D

AAAAAAnyway......good luck dawg and Have fun. Make sure to solder everything if you know how. Elec tape likes to deteriorate after a while. Especially in the summer :p

Ah, thanks man. That's perfect. I really appreciate you explaining it all.

I'll make sure to try something similar.

I'll get some pics of it too.

Thanks again man! :thumb:

yea i thought he was a ricer when i first started reading. but now i know he is a ricer.

Hmm, well Turbo Juicer.. I don't see why you'd waste a post pointing out something that's pretty obviously true.. I don't even know a lot about cars yet... This being my first..

Anyways, thanks for the comments on the interior ideas..

well if making ur car more unique and cool looking is being a ricer then im a major ricer, cuz i got red vinyl dash sticker set and blue neons out my ass in the car, the washer sprayer leds, and the led liscense frame, and all anyone ever says is aww dude ur car looks to cool and tight, only ppl that complain are ppl who have slow cars and think their car is the shit and trys to dawg on mine. Which i guess is what u all are doing?

Neon lights belong in Beer store windows not cars :thumbdown

I did the blue neons thing in my car, I have 4 12 inch tubes, 1 under each side of the dash, one behind the Head unit and one in the middle right behind the cupholders.

The lower DIN slot is a tinted bit of plexy I made, its compleatly black during the day.
It looks pretty cool when the sound activation is on.
I have a bunch of leftover Blue LEDS, I think I'll put them behind the grill of the door speakers when it gets warm out.

Heres a picture of what I've done.

Ive got LEDs in all the air vents in the dash and doors. Looks cool. If your gonna do it use 2 LEDs per vent.

I got one set (the sets come with three LEDs for like $7) at Best Buy, and the other 2 sets at Autozone. Ive seen them in alot of different places though. You could prob. find them online for a little cheaper. I did have a problem with one set I got at Autozone, one of the LEDs flickered. There return policy was weird so it took some time to get it replaced.

LEDs are also easily had at your local Radio Shack.

Just be sure to wire up a proper resistor - otherwise, the 12V input will fry your new LEDs in no time.

Any chance you know the type of resistor and where you could get them?

Thanks :dsm:

Use a 330 ohm resistor from your local radio shack. Mine were .99 for five of them. cheap enough but the leds are expensive if you buy them from radioshack. I bought some blacklight leds off ebay for 12 shipped and that was for 100 of them. :talon:

Very cool guys, love the ideas. I'll most likely get some LEDS for the vents. That'd look pretty cool I'd imagine.

I'll make sure to get some pictures.

Thanks again everyone. :thumb:

you should really use cold cathode floresent lights instead of neon. they are much brighter, a more briliant blue (much like a good LED) and are 100% badarse :sneaky:
