Hi all, I could have sworn i made a thread a few hours ago

Anyhoo, Long story short a have a 96 GST with a fully built block (forged and balanced bottom end. Cams, valve springs, 60mm bore to the tb mount, 1g tb up top) and a LSD in the tranny... I'm currently running a SAFC (hate it btw) and i'm currently planning on replacing it with a evo ecu (more than likely just going to buy a 3g RS/GS ecu and flash the tephra rom to it and work from their).

So my issue is this... I know that 95/96's have differences from the 97+ ecus therefor making it a chore to swap in newer ecu. Aside from having the ECU patch harness that machv sells, are their any other companies that sell those patch harnesses already wired up and ready to plug in?! By no means am I incompetent when it comes to wiring, I just don't have the time to do so.

If anyone can help please let me know!? (and yes... I have done my research on this topic with little to know solid answer)

Thanks

How are you going to run a 3G eclipse ECU. Not even same platform. The 98/99 ECU is the flashable ECU and the 95' can be found with EPROM.

I believe you need to swap a fee wires around mainly for your coil pack. Other than that I'm not sure.

a 3g RS/GS ecu is identical to a evo ecu. Only difference is the rom itself. Also, it is alot easier and cheaper to find a 3g ecu than it is to find a evo ecu :thumb:

As to answer the question to why i won't use a standalone. IMO, too much of a hassle. Why go with a standalone when i could use a evo rom to run my setup? Currently I use EcuFlash on my 3g and since i know how to use that really well, might as well keep using that but on a different platform right?

Here's another question for you guys... So i currently have 550cc RC low impedance injectors installed in my GST. I recently bought 2 sets (8 total) of 1580cc bosch low impedance injectors. I'm planning on swapping out the 550's for the 1580's and well before I do so I need help on finding an answer to the following question....

Since the RC 550 injectors have a resistance of 2.5 ohms and the Bosch 1580 injectors have a resistance of 3.5 ohms, would there be anything that I'd need to do to the resister pack as far as changing out resistors?

If i had to guess I'd lean over to saying "no", but since this is my first time actually dealing with swapping out low impedance injectors for another set of low impedance injectors on a high impedance app. I would like to get more info before I simply swap em out and "hope for the best" LOL. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Can you explain your reasoning for going with 1580cc injectors!? Because I can't seem to find a reason to use them?????

I had a list of mods in another thread before but it disappeared. I'll give you the short list ROFL

Fully Forged and balanced bottom end
272 intake/exhaust cams
big 20g turbo (I have a Holset H1C on stand by just incase the 20g proves to be too small haha)

and a few other goodies... I'm planning on running whatever it takes to make "hopefully" 800whp :hellyeah:

And that is why I require that size of an injector :thumb:

You are going to be 300-400whp short of 800 with either one of those turbos.

I should have mentioned... there are a few different H1C's... I got the ummm... biggest of the HIC's. That one will put me 100whp short of my goal. Meanwhile, I'll be looking around for my next best "affordable" option

EDIT:

Here's a pic of the H1C that i'm talking about (on the left)... the typical H1C inlet housing is on the right... (for comparison purposes).

I forgot to mention, unfortunately I can't post in the classifieds area here on this forum yet so... Over on club3g i have 4 1580cc injectors up for sale (to include the injector clips) if anyone is interested in them

The Holset on the right looks kinda like the one I have, mine is a H1C with the 54mm inlet. I figure its only good for about 400-450 at the wheel. But who knows

On the original topic tho, ECMlink is Plug and Play and very easy to use. I really dont see a reason to run something else unless the cost is prohibitive.

The ecu thing, its definitely cost effective. You can buy a RS/GS ecu for about $60 and load the evo roms onto it. $60 vs. atleast $300. :thumb:

As for the turbo, its hard to say what its really capable of "whp" wise. Keep in mind, some turbo diesel folks have run these turbos around 20psi on a 6+ liter v-8... I'm plugging this thing into a 2.0L I4 ROFL

Have read any of the Holset threads on this site? Lots of good info in there... flow ratings of the different sizes and all kinds of good stuff
