new head and cam gears

i just bought a new head from some head company on this site, 460 for 3 day air, + 130 for the complete gasket set and head bolts from parts dinosaur on ebay, so 600 for the head and all. but my question is this, i have new cam gears and does anyone think i should still mess around with them or just put them on and leave them at 0. i seen it was good to advance intake by 2, and retard exhaust by 1, some guy from 2gnt told me so, but does this sound good? any help would be appreciated

cams should be dial'd in on a dyno - not your driveway.

yeah, i know thats the best way to do them, but where i live, dyno's r extinct. im just goin by what a guy from 2gnt did to his car, he said most cars gain the most hp and torque from the +2 intake and -1 exhaust, so i had just planned on tryin it and seein what it did, makin sure i had valve to piston clearence and all of course

can anyone tell me what all tools in gonna need to rent to do the head and cams?

Big flathead screwdriver, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm sockets, 3", 6", 12" extension, large breaker bar w/ 1/2" drive, two 17mm wrenches, large adjustable wrench (adjustable to 1 1/2")

well i should have all that, but i meant more al the lines of a crank puller, and that tool to do the tensioner pulley, and the thing to take off and put on cam gears, stuff like that, any ideas? this is my first time, and a guy i work with done this to his 1g, so he will be teaching me, yay!
