I found a guy who lives in my town who is selling a NEW '99 GSX. That's right, zero miles. He's selling for 11k and I was wondering what you guys think. I do know that even if the odo reads zero that it doesnt mean the car wasnt abused.

Im pretty sure the car's odo hasnt been tampered with. I looked really close at the car and the engine bay is perfectly clean, tires have 100% tread, belts look new, and a few other things. I was wondering if there is a way to tell if the car has never been moved.

She sure is a beauty tho.

Is it at a dealership? You would think that it would have been test driven or moved around a lot or to some other place in the last 7 years.

It had to have been unloaded from a trailer at some time or another. So I am sure that it has moved at least a little bit.

There cannot be a car that has 0 miles, unless his garage is inside the Mitsubishi factory. :: Moving the car from factory - to truck - to dealer will incur at least 3 miles. I got mine with 6 miles on the odometer. Just the ) miles alone should make you wonder if it was tampered with.

11K for a brand new car, sure why not. You can only get a brand new Kia at that price.

This is a little hard to belive. It has to move from the factory to the trailor, then from the trailor to the dealership. There is no wy it could have zero miles on it. Also for sitting 7 years im sure the tires would be dry rotting.

Sounds fishy as a fish market.

When people buy a car or even order one especially for them, they aerent waiting at the end of the assembly line with a trailer (some very expensive exceptions dont apply). How many dealer cars have you ever seen with 000000 miles on them? Something is definitley a little fishy. I would assume if the guy somehow did accomplish this, the car was in a garage its entire lifespan or there would be no point. It should be quite easy to tell if it has ever seen any weather at all. A car that has never even seen the road will show sings of the following in and on every part of the car.

Hell, 11k would be considered a steal if it was legit.

Well, Do a car fax on the car. That's not hard? Does he have the title? See the last time it was registered. I see gsx's going around here for over 11,000 , With 90,000+ miles on them... This is a very no brainer question...

WORD. Running a CARFAX will be the best thing you've spent your $ on in a long time. Piece of Mind is priceless.

If the car does come up as brand new......i say buy it, then sell it on Ebay. I saw a 99 GSX once with 5000 miles on it go for $16,000!! (jay leno probably bought it )

NO WAY!!! Its not realistic, he rolled back the odo and put $11K on it to get rid of it fast without drawing to much attention. That car sold new for around 27 or 28. But anyway if a car like this did exist, it would be a DAMN good investment. Think of your kids...

I'm sure this car's odometer has been tampered. a 99 GSX with ZERO miles just doesn't add up. Be careful when buying a car like this, the last thing you want is a sour lemon...

I bought my 99 GSX for 16k and it had 23,000 miles on it (some rich boy had it parked in his garage collecting dust... I'm the 2nd owner )

I though that it was almost impossible and if he wasn't a friend of a friend i wouldn't have belived it

everyone else is right, not only is 000000 impossible, but FYI, rolling a car in N still clocks miles on the OD


He's Full of it, its proly a restore with a new tach in it, he's already lied to you once (the pushing the car in N bs) so everything he says is suspect.

If you saw it on Ebay its probably a scam. I bought a brand new 2003 SRT-4 back in 2003 and it had 3 miles on it. The odometer actually starts clocking miles on the assembly line...most lines are about .6 miles long. So even if you sat at the end of the assembly line it would still have 1 mile on it.

You said you took a look at it and the engine bay looked clean...well if it is brand new it should be spotless.

Another piece of advice a car 7 years old with 0 miles is still going to have the same issues as any other 7 year old car with low miles. IE belts will degrade over time, tires need replaced. gaskets may leak. Cars are made to be driven.

I used to work for a dealer and almost every car we have gotten in has had 0 miles on it when it was pulled off of the truck. We would usually put about 3-6 miles on them when we did the saftey inspections on them. It would be possible but highly unlikely.

I would buy a 99 GSX for 11K any day if it looks new, regardless of the milage.
