I was skeptical at first, but I like the results, looks good

Well I will say phunnys looks ten times better than the guys on the subi. I stll say it would be a PITA to do something like that vent you posted!

I'll try and get the vent done today. We'll get a chance to see how it really forms. The edges are perfect, might just be the way the picture looks but it's smooth and tight. The real test is how long it will stay that way. I might experiment with some different glues.

A little too much carbon fiber, you should have kept the ash tray door black IMO

I think Ill order some of this stuff on friday and try it out on the ghetto civic.

eh to each his own. i guess if you like the imitation look and if you look close you can see that the corners had issues like I said.

Yes, to each his own. But why in the #### would you wanna spend the prices on real carbon fiber parts that you'd like to have in CF? I want alot of shit in CF and that would cost alot of money. #### THAT! I want my door handle trim on the inside done in CF! and my headliner and other shit. This stuff is PERFECT for that. Especially with the 3M Adhesive. Just make sure you get it done right the first time, that 3m shit is good! LOL

Hey phunny, the back of that stuff looks like felt or is that the texture of the adheasive? I'm actually
pretty impressed, not bad at all.

You are exactly right. It is a felt type material.

I'm very bad at taking pictures so for some reason they look shiny. It is not shiny at all, it's just like a waterproofed textured material if that makes sense.

It took me the longest time to figure out what your armrest was missing until i walked out to my little brothers FD and looked at his. Looks pretty good. Hes thinking of doing his but he wants to keep all his warning lights and switches that are on the armrest. How hard was the ashtray to do?

The ashtray wasn't bad at all. The most difficult piece is the passenger side arm rest. You can keep the switches no problem. I just chose to relocate all of mine.

I recon the felt-like material on the back is to promote adhesion, which is good, like headliner if you get the glue on good only years of age will remove it. Again I'm impressed, the stuff looks good.

I used 2 yards of headliner material to redo mine in the spring. I think it could be done with one but i would get 2 to be safe.

Go buy a real intercooler.

Why would I want my car to be down for weeks during the SUMMER when creating molds and cf'ing parts is a great winter project?

I thought this stuff my be a nice quick fix and if it works out many can use it. I have some spare cash lying around and if this could help the community it would be great. It's supposed to be here tomorrow :rocks: .

whats that's supposed to mean??

sorry if i came off as rude i just see that you have a nice parts in your mod list and would think that youd wanna use the same qaulity and go with real carbon fiber? I wasnt trying to be rude was just my opinion. i read your cons saying its wanted to come up in tight corners theres a fabric glue i bought for my headliner when i re did it that works great. with just spray adhesive the headliner would fall.with both it holds up great. ill have to find the glue and see what its called maybe it would help.

Once again, I will say it again... Why on earth would you want to spend the cash and time to have your dash trims and crap like that laid with real carbon fiber? Its just stupid in my honest opinion. This sh it looks identical to carbon fiber. And can even be done just like real carbon fiber. But why not spend that cash your saving on making a carbon fiber dash trim panel and some other cool stuff, instead of just one carbon fiber piece.

TNL, you prob have never done anything using 3M Adhesive. I run a Auto Audio Shop and I personally do alot of custom jobs which require alot of laying fabric and the 3M Spray Adhesive is the best you can get, which is why everyone uses it. If you used that spray on your headliner, you couldn't pull your headliner down without ripping it! You don't have to use a fabric glue or anything like that. Use the 3M Adhesive Spray and thats all you'll ever need. I've done tons of jobs and a few of them I have had to take apart and redo, due to project changes and pulling carpet or fabric off of something thats been glued with the 3M Spray is a royal pain in the assssss!

He said it wanted to come up in corners, this is most likely when the glue is still wet. If he did something to hold it down during dry time, he would not have this issue. Which is why real carbon fiber is done with vacuum bags, to hold the carbon fiber to the piece. I don't know how this fabric is, but I still suggest getting vacuum bags. Cause during the adhesive cure time, is usually the only time you will have issues with lift. And even if it dries and you notice an area thats lifting, lift it and spray some under and hold it down till it dries.

Really? Becuse here in Oklahoma in a black car my headliner pulled an EPIC fail after about a week. I scrubbed the old glue/foam off the headliner and sprayed it allowed it to tack and then installed with clamps. I can pull the material off without it ripping. My only cocern was will it withstand the test of time? And we shall see...

Im tempted to tear my old headliner down and do it in the carbon. The main thing thats stopping me is that i just redid it a few months back and i cant bring myself to mess up a pretty good thing.

Im thinking i might be able to do something like Ive got right now. What do you guys think about doing it just like this but in the carbon wrap?

<a href="http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g111/jdodds042/?action=view&current=0216092114.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g111/jdodds042/0216092114.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Keep in mind, thats not the finished product. A little more work was done on that and the pic has some pretty horrible lighting. The real color of it is a really nice dark black.

I posted "get a real intercooler" because of your "get real cf." Not sure if you've ever glassed or cf anything yet, but it's by no means easy. I am current molding a place in the consol for my power fc commander to be stored an I'll bet I have 9 hours in it, and it's half done. Plus, I really want a super clean car, and imho a soft fabric material will give me that.

When redoing your headliner just remember that you will have some relief cuts to make, so plan accordingly.

Hey InfinitGSX, what exact spray do you use? 3M makes a bazillion different ones and I'd like the stickiest. I've been thinking about using contact sement. Any opinions?

I don't think there is anything wrong with my vr intercooler. They've been proven to work great on our cars. I admit your work came out good. The only time ive seen overlays is on hondas and most of the owners didn't do a good job.

InfiniteGSX The 3m adhesive is what i used and it held up great for a while then my headliner started to sag a little behind the sunroof. so i decided to redo it and used the same adhesive and some of the glue in areas and it worked fine ever since. I could of done wrong but it looks good now.
