NEW Dry Carbon Fiber Wrap. Thoughts?

I'd prefer to glass over it. I had a CF Shift Boot once, felt great but was stiff :(. I wanna do some trim pieces in my interior, my roof and headliner.

I wouldnt waste my money. Here is a link to my buddies website. Hes been messing with this stuff since high school and will be able to tell you the pros and cons. He does some sick work althought alot of it is honda. His S2K is a masterpiece!

www.S2CarbonWorks.com

His name is Jeremy he should be able to make any custom piece or answer questions. The stuff is pricey but its quality work

That vent that phunny posted wasnt wrapped it had to have been vacuumed that stuff doesnt lay that smooth.

I've been reading on fiberglass.com and a lot of guys have used this and posted pics. No it's not vacuum sealed. Have you ever used it? If not then we don't need assumptions on here, or he said/she said. Thanks for posting.

Yes actually I have. Youll find its not as "easy" as the ads boast. Did YOU not read my post with the link? I believe I stated a friend of mine messed with this stuff alot in highschool as well as me trying it a few times. It works great on flat areas but its very hard to get it to conform to areas such as the vent. I usually dont try to throw my .02 unless its something I have actually done but thanks! ;)

Also, the iPhone in the picture is an Italian case made with carbon fiber cloth. Its made by a company and no one wrapped that themselves on their phone.

Those cases go about $50 each.

Check the image section of the website that Phunny posted, it's there. That's definitely the neffy wrap, not a real CF case. If you look closely you can see the difference. The neffy wrap is too uniform and has a slight hexagonal shape to the "weave" unlike real CF

Honestly the stuff looks like a textured vinyl that does a great job of simulating dry CF. It probably stretches nicely to be able to work it around complex shapes.

Like I said it works GREAT for flat smooth surfaces. Not vents corners etc. Its your money though. You shouldnt get so hot headed Im just trying to help you save some money.

I am by no means "hot". You have never used this exact material. I really don't mind spending 35 bucks if it can help a lot of guys with their projects.

If it has been thinned out to .4mm it should be fairly easy to work with. Just go slow and take your time, for the price it sounds like vinyl without an adhesive backing. I say go for it, and let us know how it works out.

sucks moneys always an issue
only thing is if you lay it wrong on your dash you wither wasted money or have to look at it every time you drive the car.

That website doesn't even know the basics of carbon fiber types, but then again it's
fake... what would they know about the real stuff.

Classic Neffy said:
Our Classic Neffy features a traditional carbon fiber weave with a dry carbon look and feel. It is not resin coated like traditional carbon fiber, but still manages to be spillproof and waterproof.

Dry carbon has resin in it self, that's why it's kept frozen until it's laid out.

get real carbon fiber parts

Go buy a real intercooler.

Why would I want my car to be down for weeks during the SUMMER when creating molds and cf'ing parts is a great winter project?

I thought this stuff my be a nice quick fix and if it works out many can use it. I have some spare cash lying around and if this could help the community it would be great. It's supposed to be here tomorrow :rocks: .

Here goes my experience, the Good and Bad.

You can see by the first picture it was sent folded up. I sent them an email and around 30 minutes later they responded. The said just sent back whatever is left and they'll send me a new yard on a roll. They said that is the first time someone has said that but they'll fix it from now on. Okay, now on to the install.

Techniques I used:

I used an 80 grit orbital sander on all of the pieces until it was smooth.
I couldn't find the exact 3M glue they recommend on the site but I'm pretty sure this is the same stuff.
I put 2 layers of glue on, the 2nd layer was in the opposite direction of the first.
After the glue dried for about 3-4 minutes but was still tacky I applied the material
-the nice part about this material is that you can peel it back up if you mess something up
After all the material was on the center piece I just found something that I could press it down in the glue with.
Then I trimmed all the edges leaving enough to attach to the inside, and made all of my relief cuts. I used to be a carpet installer so this was very easy for me. The main thing to remember is you can not have to many relief cuts.
After getting everything trimmed up nicely I took some Krazy Glue that had a brush in it and started to glue the remaining fabric to the bottom side of the pieces insuring it wouldn't lift off.

Pros:
Installed very nicely
Looks great and has a very nice feel compared to painted parts
Ability to fix your mistakes without tearing the fabric

Cons:
It's packaging
on some of the steep curves(very hard to see in the pictures) it was trying to come off of the piece
I believe I needed to use more adhesive in in any crevises.

I'll keep you all posted on how well it holds up.
