New dash now fuel and temp gauge all the way up

ok so I have a 90 laser rs, I recently switched the dash out and put a 90 eclipse dash in, car is fine after that I start it up and drive down the road and I park it, start it again and the fuel and gas gauges are both all the way up, today I changed the whole thermostat housing and the thermostat, and still same thing, I dont know what else it can be, I was thinking maybe a pinched wire?

Did you mess with the gauge faces at all when you replaced the dash? If so, the needles on the stock gauges are very sensitive. If you so much as bump them the wrong way, they won't read right.....ever. I would try taking the cluster apart and seeing if the little springs that control the needles are messed up.

If you're not that comfortable working with small parts, I would reccommend taking it somewhere to have it looked at. Worst case, you can buy a used cluster from the junkyard or ebay with working gauges.

I didnt mess with the face at all.... but i will check that, the most i did was remove the cluster and set in somewhere, nothing to really rattle anything free, but who know

Did you use the wiring harness that came with the dash, or your own? I swapped dashes and figured since it was from the same year everything would be the same. WRONG. I had the same problem, the temp and fuel were pegged at the top. Wires were crossed or switched or something. Actually my cruise didn't work either. And who knows what else. Yikes it was a pain and actually AMS fixed most of it for me because it was a nightmare.

yea i used the harness from the original dash, also tonight i realized that when my high beams are off the light is on, and when they are off it is off also my oil pressure gauge isnt working either, im gunna mess with it more tomorrow, hopefully i can figure it out

After I pulled the dash out again, and put in my wires, things were messed up to a certain degree still. Again, same thing, my high beam light was backwards too. It's just mixed up wires. Good luck. Wiring demons blow!

Yikes it was a pain and actually AMS fixed most of it for me because it was a nightmare.

Possibly give them a call? Tell them we have similar issues, and ask how they found out which wires were crossed. I don't remember who worked on my car though.

Make sure all of the screws in the back are tightened down (but not too tight) and none are broken. The screws connect the curcuit to each individual thing in your gauge cluster. If one broke near the fuel gauge then it might not be grounding or giving power. I had the same problem and it was because one of the screws broke and it wouldn't ground out. They're very sensitive if you overtighten them they'll snap.

Ok so i checked all those screws and they are fine, i also tried another cluster, and did the same thing, i checked the connectors by the fuse box that run up to the dash and they are all fine too, idk what else it can be any other thoughts?
