Having problems with my new VIS dual vent cf hood.
Did anyone else have problems having the hood close? It gets about halfway in the lock and just doesn't go any farther, there's no "click".. I tried fiddling with the lock tried moving it up and whatnot, but no luck.
Anyone have any experience or same issue, help would be appreciated.:)

I don't have a CF hood, but if the problem is the hood not lowering down far enough, you could always put washers on the rear bolts of each of the hinge arms to act as shims. If it's the latch, it probably just needs smoothed a little on the edges with a file. -?

Good idea! The hood actually closed once, when it wasn't on bolts and it tilted forward alot but i got it to close, then when i opened it up, it sounded so loud when it popped open, i don't think it should be like that...:( Also, I tried smoothing out the latch with a file already, I thought the latch was hitting the inside of the hood so i filed it down 1-2cm..
Any other ideas?

what are your rubber bushings doing? are they too high? just a thought.

Is the hood hitting anything in the engine bay? Look around your strut towers and near the windshield. There is also the probability that the structural supports underneath are too thick and hitting the frame before they close. The only thing about putting washers between the hood and the hinge is that it will raise the rear of your hood up. You may like it, but that doesn't explain why it wont close in the first place.

You could take your front bumper off and raise the hood latch itself.

I've actually heard this from a couple of people though when I tried, there are 3 bolts holding the latch, once i unscrewed all 3, the latch didn't really move up and down a whole lot.

I had an incident after my sister backed up on the hood of my Talon with my dads F150 where the hood was not latching properly. I actually got into an arguement with the body shop that put the new hood on because it would not close properly after they "fixed" it. They finally tried looking at the latching mechanism and the hinges, replaced them both and I had no further problems. Just wondered if you had already tried that yourself.
