New Center differential.....bummer. how much $$$...?

My center differential is busted...

I'm stumped on what the best replacement should be.

whats this all going to cost?

should i do a stronger aftermarket Center diff. Or a stock one?

Help me out guys...whats the best thing to do?

Well, you could always go with a 4 spider center diff. I would also recommend getting the torrington bearing option. Check out Shep or tre replacement. Other than that, there are high dollar aftermarket or stock replacement. Did it damage the diff case when the gears broke?

I'm not sure, i haven't taken it apart yet.

I bought the car like this. and I'm fed up listening to my new tiers being worn to sh*t every time i take a sharp turn. I tryed convincing my self its normal for an AWD sports car to do this. But Ive owned a AWD car before and it was never like this.
I know the center Diff is broken. For example....When rolling around 5 mph in any gear or neutral, if i turn the wheel the inside tier acts like a brake and slows the car to a stop. If i give it some gas the tier chirps and the engine bogs down. Same thing in reverse except i can here clanking from under the car. I've done the tests in parking lots that say how to check for a broken diff. (hold the wheel all the way to right or left and drive in full circles at low speed, If wheel chirps excessively, you have a bad differential. OR welded.)

and oh boy is it bad... i was leaving black circles on old faded asphalt

I'm positive its not welded due to the clanking sounds of "doom" from the transmission.

I have a 4 spider center diff from TRE, it cost me $500 because the core was still useable for remachineing. If the diff housing is jacked it will cost you around $900. A new center diff from mitsu is about $1600.... The Kaaz and Quafie diffs range from 1800-2400 depending on what kind of options you want, like reverse freewheel or different power transfer ratios.

Also, dont forget about the common myth of replacing the diff housing. The drive gear will either be new or from a different, previousely worn tranny and might not mesh well with your gears in the tranny. I have dismissed it as just a myth because I am currently on my 3rd diff housing and never had any problems((other than broken spider gears). Others will swear that it may or will cause a problem so just be prepared if it comes to a replacement housing and gear.

It is for both 1g and 2g.

So how much $$$ am i looking at for a new center diff, and housing?

is it worth it, or should i just try and see my luck with out changing the housing?

That is both with useable core. TRE is $900 without but I didnt see anything as far as core charge from shep.
