hey im looking to buy a 2g eclipse and was wondering what all the differences are between a gs, rs, gst, and gsx?

No and that is called bench racing, as VelocitàPaola said...

bench racing is highly frowned upon here on DSMtuners..Like he said, search around pay attention to peoples dyno numbers, look at their mod list and that will give you a general idea. Engines are like fingerprints, even though they look similar, everyone is different, it may not be much different but engine A will make atleast .02 hp more or less than Engine B (I just made that # up for clairification of the analogy).

Aside from all of that, you will look at the claimed HP # of the car which is 210, which is measured at the flywheel. In a GS-T there will be power lost due to accessory belts being turned by the crank as well as the engine having to provide power turning the gears in the transmission, eventually to the wheels. Since more objects come into play in the GS-X with it's AWD feature there will be even more power lost as it gets dispersed to every wheel. Don't mis-understand me, having AWD is a great advantage and even after a greater powerloss from the flywheel to the wheels you will be off the line much more quickly. On average you're looking at around 170 or 180 horsepower put to the wheels on a factory turbo'd Eclipse.

theres a 95 eclipse gs for sale around where i live for $4,000 with 40,000 miles on it. do u think that would be a good deal? i wanted a gst or gsx tho

you can even save more money by buying a Talon... i dont know about where youa re but here an eclispe is usually a few more thousand dollars... but the talon looses its value compared to the eclipse (from what i have seen atleast)

i had a 95 Eclipse Gs for my first car and sold it for a turbo eclipse after owning it for about one year and putting about $2000 into it. the car ran great and was dependable but after driving eat and seeing turbo dsms around i had to get one. i would recommend not wasting your time with buying a n/t, unless you dont care about a turbo or plan on making it a turbo. i bought a completely stock 91 gsx and couldnt be happier:D

My first idea when buyin a car was a GST/GSX, but i found a gs for a good buy and couldnt find a good cheap GST/GSX anywhere. I bought my gs and now i wish i woulda got a GST/GSX...dont settle for whats there find what you want
