new 2g 14b times, 12.5 @ 109

Nice job, hopefully I can be the quickest 14b in MN this spring after actually modding the car a little :D and losing alot of weight. The time to beat is 12.10 at 112.50 from Adam in Moorhead:thumb: He gave me his stripped out frame (after parting it out)so we'll see what I can do with his car w/ a good motor and better mods.
 
Yeah since last post, i've dropped about a full second and now got my car down to 12.801 @105.6 mph, my 60' that run dropped down to a 1.74 but could still be better. hoping to get low 12's out of the 14b.

what's up wit everyone suddenly jumping on the 14b bandwagon??

Cheap power. I'm looking to pick one up for under 150, port it, up the boost, and kiss good bye to 14s. It's making the same times as a big or small 16g is on other cars and it comes stock or comes cheaper.

BTW, great job everyone running 12's on your 14b. Althought it may be tougher with fwd and a/t, that's my goal.

where do the 2g owners find what they need to fit a 14b onto our cars?
 
People have to realize that 1g's will perform better with the 14b due to the better tb, intake manifold and head design, as compared to a heavier 2g with a smaller tb, intake manifold and head. Yes.. there have been 2g's in the 12's with a 14b obviously, but not as many as compared to 1g's, especially without some type of major weight reduction or switching to a 1g tb, intake manifold and head. So don't think that you can hit 12's super easy with a 14b powered full weight 2g if you don't do the above mentioned and some major tuning. 14b = 405cfm and a 16g = 505cfm
 
Back in '98 a friend ran [email protected] in a 2g talon with filter, exhaust, and boost control.....ful weight.....so it's not that hard to do.

Any 16g install kit. Look at RRE or FP or some of the other places.

Well.. I have a buddy that has a full weight 95 talon tsi awd that goes by "whatturbo" on the forums and he's equipped with a TRE clipped and ported 18G, fully modded including fmic, and DSMlink. He is tuned very well. We did a couple of highway pulls, two 3rd gear pulls and a 4th gear pull. I pulled on him by 2 car lengths everytime easily. I have a much smaller FP ported Big28, 550's, s-afc, fmic etc. and no logging device whatsoever, so I'm very untuned. He just pulled off a 12.8 @106 at Bristol dragway. His turbo is very close to a 20g. I know were talking 14b power here but I'm just giving an example. It's not that easy IMO without some major weight reduction, or switching over to a 1g tb, intake manifold, and head for a full weight 2g equipped car, with a very small 14b to hit 12's or you would see more of them hitting 12's on the dsmtimes list. But.. I agree it has, and can be done. Elevation and air temps have alot to do with it also, and some awesome tuning as well.
