Has anyone else been able to blow off atmospherecally without a MAFT, DSM link, or anything of that nature. For some reason I was able to install my FIC with all upper and lower piping and a GReddy type-S BOV and never had a problem.
 
Some are able to and some aren't however it doesn't mean that you aren't blowing rich and hurting performance. I bought my GSX with a non-recirculated TurboXS and it ran like garbage until I installed a IG BOV that did recirculate.
 
If your bov spring is strong enough to hold it closed at idle, the only time you run into problems is between shifts, when you will run rich. Search for this; plenty of people vent without a maf-t, but it sacrifices performance, and is generally not the best thing for your car.

No, I dont' have a logger but, my FIC and and IC piping were my second mod to my car after exhaust and I only notice better performance not worse. It doesn't try to die when I let off the throttle, sputter or anything. Look at my car's profile, I am nowhere close to stock and the venting issue hasn't effected performance as far as I can tell. My car is actually fast as balls. However, there is a little black box under my steering wheel area held up with zip ties (no it's not a MAFT) and I have no clue what it does. The only thing I think it might be is an old car alarm of some sort because it has what appears to be a reset button although it is plugged into my ECU. You guys really believe that this could damage my car over time though? My car really just doesn't seem to have any strange side effects, the only thing it does is kinda lope a little at idle like it had cams or something but, they are stock. If you guys are 100% sure that I will need a MAFT or things will get messed up then I have no problem doing whatever it takes to save my car from beeing destoyed.
 
You know what guys, I realized this subject has been argued to death and it really just depends on the car. Some people can and others can't, I guess I just got lucky. Hell, I beat an NSX so I guess I can't be that bad off, unless you guys really think I would be that much better off at WOT with a MAFT.
 
If the whole "I can vent and it sounds cool" thing is important to you (no I'm not trying to be a wiseass) then by all means, get an MAFT and do it right. If performance and doing what's best for the motor are more important, then recirculate your bov if you don't want to go with an MAFT. As I mentioned above, I bought my car with a crappy vented setup that didn't even fit in the upper I/C pipe so fixing it with a recirculated 1G bov solved a number of issues for me. Plus, I have to add that recirculated or not, this thing is plenty loud outside of the car.
