Neon 420A Vs. Eclipse 420A

When I buy parts for my neon, the packing material always says 420a

My crappy 420a is only making ~450hp. Damn POS neon motor!!!

46g3's are cheap now, so in reality if you have to pick one over the other to go fast a 4g63t is a good buy. It's already built for a turbo. But if your looking to make big power you need to build the motor up regardless. So at that point it's just a matter of what you like. The 420a does not have any awd ability without massive fab work. But the 420a is a much more modern design. The 420a was developed by lotus, and it's fwd nvt350 trans is virtually bulletproof in stock form. So for a fwd platform you simply cannot beat it. I prefer the 420a, I sold my 4g63 1g talon to purchase my 2gnt w/ the 420a. Never once have I regreted it, I've never been so happy with a car in my life. Hell, I have a twin turbo nissan 350z and I still love to take the eclipse out all the time.

And on a side note, I'm convinced that the Neon is flat out the best economy car made to date. Good gas mileage, solid drivetrain, etc. Just keep it oiled and replace the damn timing belt every 60k. Hell if the neon had a timing Chain we would be all set! :laugh:

the neon is always fun if you get one of those nice mopar crate motors designed for racing and so forth. there was one around here i was considering buying until the kid took me for a test drive and was bringing it way past redline and when i looked at him in horror he said "what? its how i always drive."

the thing also had no interior, but it came within a car length of my friend's stock gst. so that gives you an idea of how quick these things can be.
