Hey what's up guys? I was just wondering i hear a lot of people saying how the a n/t eclipse engine is essentially the same as a dodge neon's. So i was wondering if it is possible to swap a GSX/GST eclipse engine into a dodge neon with out having any major problems anyone have any experience with this?

everything is completly backwards on the 420a motor in the n/t eclipse to the 4g63 in the gst.Plus unless you want to completly rewire everything this is a project that you do not want to attempt.I can get ugly very quick.

basically what they are saying(not very nice though) is it would be too much work. The neon engine is backwards from the eclipse n/t engine. It is possible to swap the 4g63 it a neon, cause anything is possible, but the amount of money and work wouldnt be worth 210 hp when it would be easier and cheaper to just turbo the 420a in the neon. Plus the 420a in your car has more power than the eclipse 420a. The easiest solution would be to either buy a turbo eclipse or srt-4 neon....other than that turbo the neon dont swap engines.

ah, but neons are lighter.....therefore faster stock for stock and mod for mod(as compared to 2g NT eclipses) anyway, if your looking for an engine swap for the neon....the 2.4 litre chrsler engine out of a PT cruiser or a Sebring?(I think, not sure ont he Sebring) works with just minor modification, and if thats still not enough power...lthe turbo kit for the neone 420a will bolt to the 2.4 as well, which equals a hell of a lot of power an torque...theres several people at www.neons.org that have done it, check it out

yes the 2.4 is out of the sebring and will fit into a neon with no problem but if 2.4 litters is not enough you can stroke it to 2.6 and go turbo=fast as all hell in a NEON!

Interesting replies here lately...

One thing I spent some time last summer doing was following the final tuning of the fuel system in a friend's 2.4 turbo ACR Neon. All done now, and she's run a best of 13.3 @ 105.4 mph on slicks.

Dyno'd at 248 hp at the wheels, and 258 lb/ft of torque.
Great car too. All go, no show. The only thing that set it apart from bone stock was the fact that it rode lower (Mopar Performance springs and Koni adjustables), and the 3" exhaust. Other than that, from the outside it appeared stock at first glance.

**walk around front though, and heh, notice the big Spearco intercooler that lives up front.**

Makes me wish that we (my at-the-time-wife, now ex) would have built our Neon R/T as a turbo. But heck, all motor can be just as fun!!

Ok, I'm done babbling now.

So I am assuming it woudln't work to take a 420a motor out of the neon and put it into my n/t gs eclipse?? cause the intake and what not is opposite.....but if i wanna just take the mods off the neon motor and stick them into my eclipse motor i have now ..that should work right? like cams, crankpulley, shit like that

well wait let me clarify, ...sorry my 420a motor in my eclipse is turbo'd and the 420a motor in the neon has mods to handle the turbo better

Yes, the Neon engine fits in 2GNT DSM's. The head is backwards, though, so the cams won't fit. Do a search next time:
