So after my torque converter failed for the 2nd time i pulled the pump out to inspect it. After cleaning everything I reinstalled the pump with a new gasket, did did not touch any of the stack components. when I dropped the transmission I could spin in input shaft easily, after reinstalling the pump it became harder to move. All of the spacer, shims were installed, nothing changed. I can turn it but takes more effort, I dont know if this is because there isnt any lubrication any longer or im missing something. The trans is already in the car so its to late to pull the pump back out. Any ideas.

I haven't messed with a dsm automatic but have worked with plenty of ford and gm. If it was a ford or gm product my first guess would be the torque converter may not have engaged the transmission pump and is binding under thrust load, just what it sounds like to me.

Did you also install a new oil seal?
The trans was freshly rebuilt, I pulled the end clutch cover and the transmission spins with one hand , I’m gunna give it a go ..... I’ll report back LOL. All I did was remove the pump and reinstall it so maybe I’m just being paranoid

Man, I sure hope it is just you being worried. I am the same exact way on my stuff, over critical until the moment of truth.
Crossing my fingers for you!!!!

She’s back bitches, I guess u can rebuild transmissions now too
