So, i just bought a 1990 tsi, well long story short, i noticed the radio turned off and on with the blinkers, well the next day,the car died and wouldnt start, i tried jumping it and the ignorant roadside helper put the jumper wires on the wrong side of the battery for at least 15 seconds...

Car wouldnt start after swapping cables around, so push it and got it started, well it died again, took the battery to autozone, it turned out bad, bought a new one, put it in, and still nothing...well, for some reason if the neutral safety switch is plugged in it wont start, so i unplugged it, and bam, it started up and ran super smooth...

So, now the windows wont move, the blinker and brake lights dont work, the pop up headlights wont go up, horn doesnt work, CEL comes on if you turn the ac on...all of these were just working fine and now they arent....

I only found one fuse that was bad, but i cant figure out the rest...did the guy fry all the relays when he put the jumper cables on wrong? I also noticed the 80amp fuse for the alternator was heavily corroded...

Thanks for any help...

No, it was a 10amp under the dash, just me trying to troubleshoot the issue i noticed the 80amp was super corroded, so imma replace that today, and the guy said the ecu was just rebuilt so it should be fine, which even with the 80amp removed for the night, the car ran perfect, in fact, better than when i test drove it...

So the electrical issue is for sure being caused by the 80amp fuseable link...but now i cant get the damn screw to loosen up so i can get it out...

mine just pulls out. no screw involved in any of the fuseable links. and just because someone said the ecu was rebuilt doesnt mean it was done correctly or it didnt go bad from the jumper cable screw up

Well it does run good, so i suspect the ecu to be ok, and when i bridged the gap everything worked....the 80amp im speaking of is where the power cable comes into the fuse box..
