hey I read about the 20G from websites that sell turbos and it says that 20G can handle up to 500hp and then i talk to dsm fans and I hear that 20G if am luck it can reach 400hp...so what i wanna know is what can a 20G handle really help me out dsmtuners...

Check this link out...
DSM Dyno Challenge - 20g

Nobody has replied because if you searched the forums you would find many many threads concerning this.

But yes it is 400hp capable...Personally I think that's close to making it out.
Well than again people have hit 400hp on 16g's...

The turbo may handle up to 400-450 hp.....but can the rest of your car handle it?
I would change the rods once I hit the 400hp mark or came close to it, not to mention other supporting mods that Im sure you know about such as fuelpump, fuel regulator, injectors and some type of tuning software considering the injector's are gonna be bigger than 650's or 700's and also considering the occurrence of knock with high boost and pump gas.

Oh, and what car is this for? 1G? 2G? 3G?

sorry am new to this website and i dont know how to search for threads yet but thanks for the replay and I just got my dsm yesterday I have a 1992 Mitsubishi Galant VR4 #173

I would go out and get 1600cc injectors because they are the same price as the rest and allow for future upgrades.

You can probably find a 190 wally for free or very cheap from someone who is upgrading to a 255 if you get a 255 you need to get a fuel pressure regulator I think is what its called. I don't really use a 255 so I'm not totally sure.

You will also want to get DSM Link for tuning or possibly get a GM maf with a MAF translator. The MAF and translator probably is not your best choice though, personally I'd go link since you would need to upgrade it to it later.

You could also try to rebuild your motor if you know how. I'm not totally sure about everything on a VR4 but, it is a start.

Great idea...if you plan on running DSMLink from the getgo. But also, for most people, it's just WAYYY overkill...even when you're thinking about future mods.

255 Walbro would be your best option as it won't require an upgrade in the future.

And yes, you'll also want an AFPR (Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator). The Walbro will overrun then the stock FPR once you really start pounding on it so something stronger IS required.

GM MAF is getting to be a bit outdated, but I personally still run it piggyback with an SAFC. Allows for Blow-Thru and a finer tune since you're able to compensate for injectors on the Translator, then fine tune with the SAFC.

Why would you run all that piggy back sillyness when you can get ECM Link lite for 345? No piggy back, you can adjust timing, you can adjust fuel, and many other things. If you run large injectors on SAFC all you do is put the engine in a more dangerous timing map under boost, and it doesn't even know its doing it.

I agree,I would just get the ECM Link instead. There are a lot more options and its user friendly.
The only reason I could see why you wouldnt get an ECM Link is because your ECU isnt flashed and you dont wanna go trough the hassle and your not doing too many mods anyway. But this guy is talking about 400-500 whp so I would go with ECM instead of a piggyback.

Personally, I consider a tuning software as the first mod a dsm'er should get for his car (besides maintenance) because it will at least give you a baseline of whats going on inside the engine before you start modding in which you can do some minor tweeks before starting to mod to make sure your engine is in full operating condition.

I would rather a baseline for the engine (referring to ECM link) before I start modding so I can compare before and after logs when you install the part.

Not disputing that at all, but my setup is from a couple years ago and the car's currently sitting in Texas waiting on me to ship it up to Pa.

Compensating for injectors on the Translator while fine tuning on the AFC isn't putting the engine in any kind of danger as long as you're tuning correctly.

Correct. Compensating for the injectors on the Translator makes it so the airflow correction on the AFC aren't so severe that it puts you on a crazy timing map.

With that said, go ECMLink.

Price-wise, the Evo III 16G is where it's at. No other turbo can offer the fitment, airflow, spool, and durability for $500.

Getting back to your original question- the most HP ever recorded by an Evo III 16G was 499whp by Curt Brown's black 1G. A 20G can generate roughly 3-4 lb/min of additional airflow over a 16G, so there is no doubt a 20G can make over 500whp.....but not by just anyone on this forum.
