I finally got to go to the track tonight. I got a total of five runs in, but according to what I've read, I should have been faster still.

1992 TSi AWD

My best R/t .037
Best 60' 2.085
Best 1/4 14.897
Highest MPH 92.25

Except for when I switched from a 4k launch to a 5k launch, all of my runs were almost the exact same.

I was lauching at 4000Rpms and got 2.3 60' ft , when I changed to 5000 I started getting 2.0 and dipped into the 14's. I shifted at 6000 on every gear except 3rd which is where I ended my runs.

I have a K&N and a MBC set to 14psi.(which probably does not help since I have stock exhaust) and a stock type clutch. My tires were almost bald however.

Any advice on improving my runs? Or is this about what to expect from a stock setup? Or should I be running a little faster? Or should I be looking for a problem with my car?

Thats not a bad time for a near stock gsx. Good work.
 
I redlined a few passes in 2nd and 3rd, but for some reason going to red in 1st seemed to slow me down, is it that it just feels slow, or should I be shifting to second earlier?
 
Your time seems about right, maybe you could improve a tenth or two with that trap speed and AWD. I just had K+N and MBC not too long ago and was getting consistant 14.6-15.00 @ 93ish with a GS-T (2.3 & 2.4 60fts). I've seen AWD's go 14.4-14.6 @ 92.

Of course, shifting faster could help. The shift to third and fourth I usually don't lift off the throttle, but then again, I don't know how harmful that is to an AWD.

Next time you go the track, try a run shifting to fourth. You never know what might happen. My best times and best traps have always been when I shift into fourth. After 6500, the car doesn't seem to pull as hard. I shift to fourth at about 6200. Just a suggestion based on my personal experience.
 
ya id say up it to about 15 or 16, go out where no ones around an practice the launching , and shift at about 6400 or so 6500 when ever u feel it start to slow down on the practice runs. Dont shift at redline unless you wanna gain a couple of tenths on your time. And dont short shift the gears at like 5800 that will kill you, but it seems like youve got a good running car and know what your doing so good luck with the mid 14's. I just put on my mbc and spi boost gauge and am planning on heading to the track for the 1st time next wed hopefully ill have the same luck as you. I run about a car behind a local ser that pulls a 15.2 at the track wit a 2.1 60ft and can normally get a car and a half to a car out the hole but hats with inexperience launches. from a 2nd gear roll im a car behind till the top of 3rd and that was on 12psi.
