So, at some point during my rebuild my column switch for my lights ate it. The day I was trying to get the car on the road the lights just wouldn't turn on (well headlights, taillights, markers, and my dash). I replaced the relays in the fuse box (engine compartment fuse box) and still nothing. On a whim I made a couple bypass lines (wire run from point to point where the fuse would go) and the lights turn on no problem.

This tells me it must be the light switch itself, but I cant find another one around here, so I want to rig up a new light switch (just a simple on off switch).

Has anyone done this before?

Does anyone know what wires I will need to use?

well if you want to just rig it to work and not diagnosis the problem and repair correctly you can just go to autozone and get a toggle switch. 2 prong if you dont care about having hi-beams and a 3 prong / 3 settings switch if you want to be able to turn your brights on. id use atleast 12g wire. if you would like more help on how to wire it using the set up i suggest feel free to ask i can provide you with a more in depth route of doing it. hopefully this helps you out

Thanks for the reply. I'm going the route of a new switch. I have a three prong, three setting switch. Yesterday I tried hooking up one side of the switch to the red and black wires running into the column switch and got nothing out of it.
