I recently purchased a stock 95 TSI AWD with 72k miles. My biggest problem is I don't know what the hell I wanna do with it.

At first I wanted a E316g but then I realized that I want a bit more power than that. So I started looking at 20g's but those aren't bolt ons and I'm not sure what all is required to run one.

I want 400whp and since I only have 90oct sometimes 91 available I know i'll have to use meth to achieve that and that's fine.

My dilemma is regarding the motor. I was originally planning on just do maintenance. Timing belt, water pump etc...

I see two options:
1.) do maintenance to current stock 7 bolt and see how far/long it lasts.
2.) Just do a full build to begin with and not worry about playing catch up in regards to maintenance and what not.

The other things that i've been contemplating and would consider relevant.

The car will be getting a paint job along with a 2gb conversion , full black interior swap, and eventually a 5 speed swap. With that in mind should I just start tearing it apart so I can do a proper paint job ie. paint engine bay etc... and everything else.
I also have practically no experience with actually working on or modding DSMs and I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. I plan on doing everything myself because I want to learn as much as possible. but with that being said, I don't have a clue what it takes to build a motor.
I'm torn between a full build all from the very beginning or building it over time.
This is not my daily driver so down time is not really an issue.

I've researched for hours but just can't make up my mind. Any insight would be appreciated.

HTA 68, Ecmlink, FIC 1100's, 3 inch exhaust, ETS fmic, E85, race gas, meth is not my favorite choice but 30psiish of boost will get you 400hp all day!:hellyeah:

I don't have access to e85 sadly.

I'm still torn between leaving the motor stock and actually building it. If i leave it stock what would be required to run those mods. Just headstuds and a headgasket?

Yea you probably could make 400whp easy on pump gas with hta turbo's, just easier with race gas.:p Well you can just get arp head studs and hope it holds up. People have have made over 400whp on stock block so join the crowd. I am sure if you properly maintane your car it will show gratitude.:thumb:

Im just under 400 with a e316g. Completely stock long block. The only thing that went was the HG but I got ARP's and a cometic gasket and it does just fine.

get a t4 mani and a 60-1 is a nice dd turbo that can make all the power you need on dsm link with a tune

HTA 68 is more bolt on friendly for him like he was looking for, but those 60-1 do make some nice numbers.

I am looking for a bolt on if possible. I'm just kinda worried that the stock motor won't last very long. I suppose I could always build a motor on the side and just drop it in when the current one gives,

Well the main reason I havent really said anything about the motor is it is really up to you what you wanna do. Do you wanna spend the money to build one? Go for it then no problems. Or do you wanna budget build stock block and it should be fine really. Or just do some maintanance on what you have now and see if it will last. I know people running crazy boost on stock motors with over 200,000 miles so it becomes your car. I am still running my stock block and I plan to roll on it till it blows. 20psi+ on evo3 16g all day.

I really just can't make up my mind. Since I've never done anything even remotely close to a full engine build I have a feeling that once I tear my car apart it will be a LONG time before I get it back up and running.

I was in your position, I did the paint job and eclipse conversion and regretted it. I spent the same amount on that crap as a new 2.4 stroker..

Since the day I got my license I've wanted one car and one car only. A 2gb GSX. Unfortunately Alaska doesn't have shit for DSM's so I'm just gonna make my own LOL. I've always wanted one and will do anything to get one haha. The current paint job isn't horrible but it has got quite a few scratches and is in need of some tlc anyways.
It will probably take me a few years to get it how I want but that's okay. I'd rather wait and save up my money and get it exactly how I want than rush it and make compromises. Someday I'll have the perfect panda! Volk TE37's and all:)

I would say keep the motor up on maintenance and run it until you finish all your cosmetics you want done. The after that decide how far you wanna take it motor wise.

I think that's what i'm going to do. Thanks for the advice guys. I just need to pull the trigger and start buying stuff LOL.
