so if you do the math, you are half full or half empty LOL... no just joking i dont know i got a 2g and its different sry.

well if its like anyother car it doesnt really matter, just turn the dipstick when you check it. If you rotate it the other way does it show full? I know our cars are difficult sometimes but this is pretty basic. Someone correct me if im wrong, i work with 25+ cars a day and i allways rotate the dip stick.

the way i have it shown in the picture shows its full but when i pull it out and wipe and insert it the other way it shows its lows thats why im saying which way is correct?

If it's bent, then you should be able to notice and should be able to bend it back.
I have no way of knowing if it's full or not with seeing the rest of the dipstick so see if this is the problem.

i noticed a slight bend on the dipstick where i pointed the arrow so can that be whats throwing it off? i tried using my hands to bend it back but it just wont.

Other end.

Think about it. The dipstick tube already has a bend in it but by the time the dipstick reaches the oil pan the tube is straight and the dipstick should be running straight down into the oil pan and into the oil.

If so then the dipstick should read the same on both sides. Since it's not, you have to vision what might be causing it not to.

i will look at the other end tomorrow and get back thanks.

Glad you got it fixed. Morbid curiosity makes me ask if it was full or a quart low when you put the new stick in?

Semi related question here...
Recently did an engine swap and it was a 7 bolt for a 7 bolt. the dip stick that came with the JDM one was broken at the top, so me not thinking, i tossed it and just used my old one. Now when i do an oil change, 2 quarts makes the oil read at MAX! (clearly that isn't right....) so to be on the safe side, i put 3 quarts in and it's reading sky high! (i'll do an oil change tomorrow or the day after and take some pictures)

How many different dip sticks are there and what are the differences in length? Thanks.

For the record, my dip stick has a T handle on it and says "engine oil"

My dipstick wont push in easily i have to use a lil force why can this be? The car has been sitting for 10days in the winter so maybe i just need to get everything nice and hot and the dipstick will go in and out easily?

depending upon the temperature, the ribbed section right under the ring may get hard and make it tougher to get in and out (what she said) but after you warm up the car, the dip stick should move easier. Mine is old and the tube slightly crimped so mine doesn't count.

Yea it was def what u said cause once i got the car nice and warm the stick goes in and out easily.

There was a difference in the dipsticks from the 6 to 7 bolt motors can't remember what it was but I had to crush the end of mine due to boost. You could be driving down the road and lay into it one good time and it would shoot the dipstick out of its tube and start to squirt a little oil out ... so I have seen plenty of folks who would crush or tie down their dipsticks, but I definitely don't care for the dipstick to be easy to pull out :) just something you may want to keep an eye out for.
