Need some advice on drilling out my Greddy Type Rs for a new Barbed fitting a

So I went from part store to part store looking for the right barbed fitting and no one carries the barbed fitting for my Greddy type Rs fitting. So i've decided to drill out a bigger hole and possibly re thread it for a different fitting does anyone have any advice on how I should go about doing that? And does anyone know the fitting size by chance.

If my memory serves me, it's 1/8" NPT. And you definitely aren't going to want to step it up to 1/4" NPT. If it were mine, I'd weld the hole shut and drill and tap it back to 1/8" NPT.

the hole is fine the thing is just missing the Barbed fitting so Im trying to figure out what I can do to get a fitting now probably going to have to wait right?

I somehow accidently misinterpreted your post and gathered that the threads are damaged. Disregard what I said about welding it and tapping it.

So, you just need the little fitting? I'm pretty sure I have one that I'd be willing to send to you. Or you can go to the hardware store and buy a "1/8" NPT to barb" fitting. Just match up the barb diameter to the ID of the vacuum hose that you're running.

I just went through this with a greddy type s that I bought that was also missing that fitting. It is NOT a 1/8 npt fitting, but rather the other european 1/8 thread (BST or something) that is tapered. I ended up stealing one off of a greddy boost control selunoid I had. good luck.

BPT and NPT are so close to being the same thing that they can be interchanged without issues. I had NPT fittings on my old GReddy BOVs and they threaded in and sealed perfectly. Same thing for the OFH, which is also BPT.

Paul is right, and if you are extra anal and feeling froggy you can hit it with an npt tap first. Pretty sure the brits left a little extra meat on the taper when compared to NPT.
