So I bought this NT 92 Eclipse for $900. It came with a parts car that had a bad tranny. And i still have my 91 talon sitting around with my friends 93 Talon that is awaiting disassebmle since the timing belt when on it. So i have 4 DSM's here. Anyway, i want to know what all you guys think of my Eclipse. Yea i know its a NT and you do not have to remind me. I needed something a little reliable. And this has let me down in the month ive had it. Knock on wood. Its got 220,000 miles on it, bran new clutch, and as of now all stock. My plans are to get some ebay headers with a downpipe. Then i want to get a nice catback. Im also going to be getting an intake for it. The ground effects for the doors are off in these pics. These pics were the day after i bought it. Still doesnt have them because i just bought new clips for them. THe hood and parts of the fenders are painted black. Wet sanded the hood, primered it, then used some gloss black paint. Still need another coat or two. So give me some ideas. As well as where to get some of the parts i listed above. I would like to know the best place to get them. Thanks in advance.

Cant figure out how to get more pics but they are on this thread below. Sorry. And they are in My Photos.
My new buy (steal)

Honestly since it's an N/T I wouldn't do much at all to it. Oil changes, timing belt, and other preventative maintenance is all I would do if you wanted reliability. Work on your other cars and turbo them, or fix them and sell them for a turbo car. Just my .02

it really depends on what you want to do with it. if you want a turbo, work on the turbo one, keep the eclipse as a daily driver... you dont want to put a lot of time and money into a n/t cause the fact that you can only do so much to it before going turbo. and thats where you encounter problems...

Depends, do you have a need for speed? If so then obviously you should wait and put all your funds toward a turbo model. If you don't care about speed or power then your NT will work just fine. I would worry most about looks with a NT (since power isn't where it stands out) throw some fresh paint on it and some nice rims, then go from there :thumb:

I think everyone is missing what the OP is asking! He is NOT trying to heavily mod the N/T or make huge horsepower, he is trying to do the basic things to make his car run just a little better, and sound better, to make a respectable daily driver.

I did a quick search and found almost no vendors with non turbo mods; but then again its 4am, I am exhausted, and I have never looked before. I only suggest that you NOT get a bumblebee exhaust muffler, and try to retain a stock appearing one.:thumb: Keep it clean, well running, and post pics of your progress!

Sounds to me like your heading in the right directions for looks. Not bad ideas with the bolt-ons you want to get. Make sure your tires are good and how is your interior?

I would mabey get a cat back exhaust, leave the factory manifold. And for more efficiency look for a cheap cold air intake. Other than that keep on doing what your doing to make it look good and jsut drive it. Regular mantinence will cost enough cash, after that many miles any car could be waiting on some large repair bills for things like oil seals, brake calipers, etc, etc (stuff that wears out after a long time).

FYI I got a cold air intake on my daily driver (not a DSM) and I picked up 3mpg on the highway and raised my average MPG by 1. For a daily driver thats as good as it get in my book, yea a few horses is nice but saving money is better. :thumb:

I for one love the old 1.8 and 4g63 non-turbo cars. You can pick them up for next to nothing and beat the hell out of them for ever. For example my brother bought a 93 eclipse/talon hybrid from a junk yard, yes a junk yard, put a battery and an ecu in it and literally drove it home. He still has it.

IMO, drop it 2", put some 3g wheels on it, paint it flat black, and drive it until it quits.
