Ok so right now i am almost done with all my power mods all i need know is a FMIC, Injectors, S-AFC, and pocketlogger. Also, when i ordered my turbo i totally forgot to ask for the 34mm flapper mod. Thankfully, i only creep after 4700 RPM, so i have hoping than a good EBC like the Profec-B 2 would help it regulate for the last 2300 RPM. The question is what should i get:

1. Greddy Profec-B 2
2. pocketlogger, S-ACF2, and injectors
3. Greddy FMIC

Pointless to add power mods with no way of tuning or having fuel control. Option 2 is the best bet.

FYI, Road Race Engineering guru's recommend AGAINST the Profec B SpecII. The reasoning escapes me but might as well get the standard Profec B, they say it performs more reliably and hey, now its cheaper!

I was told the profec b specII is junk due to the fact that it can (not will) cause boost spikes. The mechanic that helps me with everything told me that one of his close friends blew an awd celica up with a specII

And I agree, if I had it to do over I would have gotten fuel tuning before the boost controller. FMIC would be okay to do but IMO do the fuel tuning first.

yea i just called RRE they said that an EBC wont cure boost creep  i need to get the 34mm flapper mod (i cant believe i completely forgot to order it when i bought my turbo  ). Maybe if i go to RRE and they could do the flapper mod over a weekend so i dont have any downtime (i need my car for school and work). They also reccomended the old Profec-B but they said good luck finding it. I guess for right now i wont go over 5K and ill get the fuel mods first, then the FMIC and hopefully it wont creep past 20PSI and i can set it to where ever it stops creeping :dsm:

RRE should weld that flapper on for you for not much money ;)

If you don't get the Profec B, which isn't THAT hard to find, try the turboXS Dual Stage or find a good HKS EVCIII or IV and you'll be fine. Just stay away from the ever-complicated AVCR or junky Profec Spec2.

Fuel mods next though! 660s, 190lph fuel pump and SAFC, not SAFC2. DSMs respond better with the regular blue screen unit, the other is a PITA so says RRE and MANY reputable tuners I've spoken with.

Save yourself some $$$ and time and go that route.

Just realized you have a 2G, just get DSMlink. Much better than any SAFC variant. Its the most user friendly unit you'll run across.

LoL yo im in college i dont have money to get a laptop, EPROM, and the DSMlink. Maybe after i graduate i can but for right now i think a S-AFC and pocketlogger will do

The profec's display will flash red if you are experiencing a boost spike. All you have to do to cure it is turn down the start boost setting. If that the start boost is set too close to the set boost then you WILL spike. Just gotta turn da sh!t down. You'll want it about 3-4 psi lower than your set boost. I think there is a lot of hating on the profec II simply because there aren't a lot of people who have experience with them. A general rule of thumb for me at least is don't knock it till you try it.

LoL this is exactly why the Profec B2 is sucks balls, boost spike. My hallman MBC doesnt spike i can launch and it will PEG 14PSI. I am not going to pay $300+ for a EBC that cant even do as well as my $50 MBC. Hell Greddy no that there Profec B-2 sucks balls that is why they already have the Greddy Profec Type-S in Japan and should be coming to USA early next year. Of course the design is off of the first Profec-B which everyone says is much better than the B-2 :shhh:

Wow, that TYPE S looks great! But, it'll definitely be pricey! That's where the MBC's come in :thumb: I just noticed though that this thread is not about boost controllers so I would say go for the fuel upgrades

not really my inside resource tells me they are going to retail for $325 which is only $15 more that what the Profec-B 2 is suppose to retail at :thumb:

im going with option numero uno. get youre tuning and fuel stuff out of the way. then get the flapper mod done as soon as humanly possible, so then you can have a reason to use the fuel mods. i assume youre on the 16g or something in that range, so the smic will do as long as youre just racing at night giving a little cruising time between kills to cool it down. as for boost control, you could get a dual stage dejon tool med-hi unit, thats what im getting. i dont really like the electronic boost controllers, but maybe one day if i have more moola to spend on something i use maybe once a week i might get one.
