pay 5 to 10 bucks and take it to any muffler shop and have them weld in the little holes. that can cuase alot of loss of performance.

well i have an electronical one so that why it's giving me that number i guess.

so what else culd be wrong?

I thought normal was 18 at idle and around 24 on deceleration.

It depends on compression, cams and elevation. I see 16 at idle and 24 on deceleration with the stroker and Comp 200's.

For the original poster, if your gauge is electric and not mechanical, I would recommend that you either re-check the wiring or purchase a mechanical gauge to see what your true vacuum is.

Cheers,

Andy

But they go to 30in/hg... I'm saying I didn't know they made gauges that read all the way to 40.

Just one thing to point out, 30in/hg of vacuum is the most you can ever have, that is a perfect vacuum.

I figured when I read the post he was listing 40kpa, that would be typical with a few leaks. My car idles at 24kpa. ????

not if your talking kpa, if your talking inches of vacuum then yes. That is why I thought he must be talking kpa. I run speed density on my car so I am use to seeing the numbers in kpa format, so idle is at like 24kpa and WOT is 100kpa, and 10psi boost reads like 170kpa.
