I like the ebay one because its all inclusive hardware wise and Im a noob, but I want full functionality in case I actually learn a thing or two about a thing or two.

Wow, the 1g pocketlogger software is down to $75.

Anyway, I would personally go with the pocketlogger software, but it's pretty much personal preference. Pocketlogger has a pretty good forum, great support and makes it easy to transfer logs to your PC.

I picked up a Palm m130 off ebay for about $35 and got a serial hotsync cable for another $10. If you need some help picking out the additional hardware, let me know and I can provide you with some links.

I bought that same logger a few months ago (the first one listed). If the batteries die in a PalmIIIxe, who have to reinstall the software back on. I had to do that once, and during the sync my logger got fried and is permanantly in Fatal Error. Nothing gets past that error, not hard reset, nothing. I wish I paid for dsmlink in the first place because I ended up getting it after all. Or get a keydiver chip at the least and save yourself the pain.

thanks guys, I think Im going to bet the m130 and the pocketlogger.com softwqare. I'll probably hit u up in a few days spyder. If I buy that software, the only other cable I would need is the serial hotsync to connect to my pc?

Yep, the main cable comes with the software, so if you are getting the m130, you will need something like this:

You might be able to find it cheaper, but that's the first one I saw.

I got a Palm IIIC (color palm) with all the original cables and a cord to hook up to the diagnostic port of the car for about $60. Then downloaded MMCD onto it and it's great. Works perfectly.
