Need Major Help!!!

hey i have a big problem.........my car broke down on the side of the road last wednesday. i have no clue what is wrong with it....and its hard to explaine. i was just getting up to speed and all the sudden it started making really wierd noises. it didnt die right away but the noise scared me so i pulled over to the side of the road and it died almost instantly and wont start back up.. now i can turn the engine over and if i have the gas peddel to the floor it will kick over to about 500-700 RPM then die 2 sec. later. now i have been talking with some people that i work with and they seem to think it has something to do with the fuel. so they told me to check the TPS, the fuel pump, the fuel relays, and the fuel filter. does anyone know any other info on what i should be looking for or any other ideas? i have a spare car that i am gonna take the fuel pump, filter, and TPS from and go down there today and try to fix it on the side of the road. so i have a fun day ahead of me. so if there is anything else that i should look into please let me know. but like i said its hard to explaine with out actually being at the car and seeing what is happening.

It's hard to know what to go after since we can't actually hear the noise and feel what you described, but I can tell you from personal experience to check the intake pipe where it bolts on to the turbo inlet. I had mine come loose once and I had the same symptoms. The car hardly wanted to run and even though it would start, it wouldn't hold any load and wanted to stall consistently.

What happens in that case is that you're not metering air correctly and it screws the pooch pretty badly. All of the other things you mentioned are also great things to check, but I would go for the simple thing first and that's what comes to mind when describing your symptoms. I'd also check your MAS and make sure that everything is plugged in correctly and that no wires are frayed.

that totally makes sense......i cant believe i didnt think of that because i just put a dejon tool intake on and it would seal and everything but it seemed like it wasnt as sucure as i would have liked it to be......thank you for telling me that i would have changed all the stuff i mentioned and possible not even looked at that........well im off to go fix my car so i will let you all know how it goes!!!!

its definately not the tps, and 99% not the fuel filter (they dont just "go" like that).

To add on:

If it's not the intake pipe, double check everything on the intake side, mostly the intercooler pipes.

I also hope it's something this simple.

Was it a gradual up to speed? Or a hard acceleration? Might of blown off one of your I/C pipes.
I'm assuming that you have coolant in the car? And of course you have fuel in the car, too?
Always look into the obvious things before you start digging into the car.

well went to try to fix it and had no such luck. checked all my intake hoses and made sure i wasnt leaking any fluids so i was good there.....checked the fuel system and that was all good to so now im pretty sure it is electrical. i was told that my coil is bad and its not getting enough spark. so that is my next step i just need to get it back home so it doesnt get towed.............so again ill keep you all up to date with my issues.......

Hey man one thing you might want to check is your coolant temp sensor. I know it sounds crazy but one of the wires on the plug to the sensor broke off on my car and it did the same thing you described. The damn thing just started running like crap and eventually died on me. When I finally got it to start it didn't want to stay running unless I held it to the floor. I would of thought it would have caused the check engine light come on but for some reason it didn't right away. I thought the same crap, no fuel, no spark, but for some reason that sensor caught my eye. Spliced her back together and I was good to go. I might be the only one who ever experienced this problem but it's worth a shot. Good luck man. I hope you get it going

yeah just got my car fixed "sorta" the balance shaft belt broke and sent my engine off time... So if you are framiliar with this problem then you would know that my valves are screwed......so it runs now but not very good at all. I do have a spare engine and trans so i will just have to switch them out and rebuild the ones i take out of my car....oh well
