need help with transmission swap on 2g gst

i have a 95 eclipse gst it has a 6 bolt engine installed in it currently, but my 5 speed trans took a dump on me. does anyone know what it would take to install a 1st gen trans into my 2nd gen car? i havnt had any luck finding a reasonable 2 g tranny around here but i have located several 1st gens. so if any one has done this swap or knows if it will work please help me out... i have heard of people installing a 2g tranny into a 1st gen car. so maybe it will work but idk. or if anyone has a reasonably priced 2nd gen gst tranny for sale hit me up... thanks in advance for your help

Indeed the trannys will bolt up, just make sure you get the correct tranny ( FWD ) check the classifieds for one or perhaps have yours rebuilt if your budget allows for it.

thanks for the reply, do u know if the tranny mounts are the same? or know of any problems i might encounter while doing a swap like this? thanks

Im not sure how it will work with the 6 bolt instead of the 7 bolt. With the 7 bolt you cant use a 1g transmission because the mounts are different.
