Bought some cheap 60 dollar ebay lowering springs called drop zone a while back ,and it lowered my car two inches... Well it looked great, and rode great, and cornered way better than it did stock. After about 4 months my (brand new ) oem stock struts blew, and I was bottoming out badly and after a while aside from bottoming out it started bouncing uncontrollably over everything... It would keep bouncing up and down the rode for a while like it was a boat on rapid small waves or something and it was irritaing.

I managed to get some replacement stock struts on for free from the ppl who put the other "new" ones in before I got the lowering springs, and these ones I have on now are suppose to be stronger and set for harder, but Ive already pulled some stock springs out a junkyard for my car because I plan to put the stock springs back on this weekend and take off the lowering springs until I get some performance struts/shocks for those springs because I cant have those shocks going out in a couple months or so like the last ones and I refuse to be bouncing all over the road again..:toobad:

What are some good shocks/struts recommend for a 2in drop?
Or should I go coilover, and adjust it or something? What do you think about
these ebay coilovers * yes once again cheapo ebay but im on a budget*

for the lowering springs Ive heard konis are good, some say get agx but some say not to
I just want somethin reliable for a 2in drop thats not crazy expensive, wont bottom out over everything, and that wont go bad after even a yr from riding at that lowered height. because I dont want to be changing struts often...at all...
If the struts are too expensive im going coilover...Any help?

although i am a 2g, i went with an ebay package for tokico illuminas 5way adjustable shocks and tokico hp springs. for both they cost $475 shipped to my house.. if you end up getting those ebay coilovers you are going to be in the same situation again.. if you have lowering springs you should DEF look into AT LEAST upgrading your shocks..

This guy is right about the struts. Buy newer ones even if going with coilovers. My buddy bought coilovers for his and his struts went out 2 months after that.

Honestly on a 1G, the only struts you can get that will handle a 2 inch drop is Koni's. AGX's could be made to work, but will be extremely stiff and the long term durability is still questionable with a 2 inch drop, as they will bottom out on hard bumps or hard cornering. The middle ground would be Koni's on the front and AGX's on the rear.

yea thats what answer i keep hearing from most ppl...
Well when you say durability since they are adjustable, so I just set them stiff
and suppose they do bottom out, will they still eventually kick the bucket and
blow and end up like my stock struts were I explained the whole bouncing effect.
( Or will they just be blown, remain stiff, and continue bottoming out? Without the bouncing effect?
Because nothings worse than bouncing, Ill take bottoming out over bouncing anyday. )

And you guys make a 2in drop sound serious even though it doesnt look like it lowered it that much,
i mean you can tell but it doesnt look drastic like those guys who cut their springs..
So what is the recommend drop for a 1g if your trying to keep good performing struts, 1in, 1.5 in?

And you say agxs on the rear would that it suggested to have the hardest stiffest setting on the rear
or would that make it jump or something over bumps?

Koni Sports are the ONLY shock that will put up with a 2inch drop.
Not only that but those ebay coilovers are garbage.

Get some real springs with real spring rates. Get some real shocks while you're at it.
Realistically, 2 inches is too low for just about anything. At 2 inches ride and performance suffers immensely.
Check out the suspension forum and heed Jtoby's words.

A good street setup would be Illuminas + prokits (1.25" drop), or Tanabe GF210 (again similiar drop). But thats for a 2g.
for the 1g I would still go with konis and something like Ground Controls. I think the AGX's suck - almost everyone who lowers with them blows them and they're twice the shock the stock struts are - that should tell you something. So if you must still go AGX, don't excessively lower your car.

You've done this once for the "look", now go ahead and do it right for the "ride".

This guy's got the plan, if cost is an issue.
