Well i spun another rod bearing :/ in my stock 7 bolt 2.0l. I want to have bigger displacement for the tq and spool. I was thinking of using the G4CS or the 4g64. I want this to be as close to a direct bolt on as possible. My goals are 400hp on pump gas. I have a schwitzer turbo i plan on using.. Okay so my main question is for the 4g64, will the stock pistons hold up to the extra heat of the turbo charger? Or will i HAVE to get oil squirters? And will the engine hold up to the 400hp goal? This engine has to last a long time as well. And theres the g4cs motor, this wont be hard to find because there are plenty in the junkyards around me. Again same questions about the pistons? But i know the g4cs will hold the power with no problems because its a 6 bolt. My last option would be to get go 6 bolt swap. I dont really want to do this though.
The car is going to be mainly a street car with some track use. Thats the reason i want more displacement..any opinions? And advice would be awesome! Thanks.

The stock 4g64 will not hold up to the heat I can tell you that right now. My question is why dont you just do a 6 bolt swap 400 HP is way capable with a 6bolt. If your going to go through the trouble of a swap thats what id do. most of the top drag cars run the 6 bolt. Shep, Alex Shuster with the KAZ SPEED TALON
just for 2 of them.

Ive been reading up on the 2.3 and i dont care much about lossing revs btw(the main reasons i want 2.4 is because the turbo i plan on using, i want quicker spool and the added tq.). And some people say the 2.4 is more of a street engine and the 2.3 is more for a drag motor. Any truth in that?..i know the 6 bolt will hold that power easy, but i dont want full boost at 5k rpm though..
Okay so my options are:
1. get my 7 bolt and go 2.3l. Fot that ill need, the 4g64 crank with the rods? And custom pistons made? Is that correct?
2. Get the 4g64 short block. Add some forged pistons( i dont think I'll need forged rods for my goals). Add oil squirters.
3. Get a G4cs and get forged pistons(again i dont think ill need forged rods for my power goal, they have 6 bolt rods correct?)
4. Get a 2.0l 6 bolt and get ful boost at 5k rpm and call it a day.
And other options? Please keep in mind i want this to be a street monster more then a drag car. Thanks

Thanks but Im not looking for an all out drag car just yet. My goals arent to far off from reaching in my opinion. I have the turbo, the injectors(not in the car now). All i need is dsmlink and a 255+Afpr.
And the G4CS is a 2.4l 6 bolt so Im sure it'll hold that power now problem. Minus the pistons and lack of oil squirters that is... And knock sensor but Thats an easy fix.

Nope, rods are the same, many manufacturers make off the shelf 2.3 pistons.
2. Get the 4g64 short block. Add some forged pistons( i dont think I'll need forged rods for my goals). Add oil squirters.
Nope, don't need oil squirters, especially with forged internals. Buy forged rods now, it'll cost less to do it all at once.

do you have any links to those off the shelf 2.3l pistons? and thanks for the oil squirtters advice.

okay so i was thinking about keeping my 7 bolt(out of a 97) and getting a 100mm crank from a 4g64 and getting fome forged rods and some 2.3l pistons..any thoughts?..also does the 4g64 crank matter where i get it from? because i was thinking of pulling a crank from the junkyards near me. the have some 4g64 3rd gen eclipses and some galant 4g64s. does it matter which one i use?
