I got tired of fit-tiling with the oem infinity radio, (it would work when ever it wanted to). I went ahead and bought a pioneer 150hd from best buy with a metra conversion harness so I could run the stock amp. I went ahead and soldered it all up, and connected it. it works sounds but baffled, I suck at radio wiring and set ups, so is there anyway to change the settings on the radio for it to work with my stock amp.

second problem.

after a week of driving the 2g 40 miles both ways, it began to throw a code P0700 transmission control System (MIL Request). I recently just put new atf oil, and it shifts all gears smoothly 1-4 down shifts properly, and kicks over drive when pressed. I read obn forums that 2gs sometimes throw that code for no apparent reason. Is there a reason for it if all functions correctly.

Not sure about the trans issue but the stock amp is likely what is causing the issue with sound production. The head unit is amplifying sound along with the factory amplifier. The metra kits are supposed to work well in conjunction with factory amps but if you do a few searches you will find plenty of people unhappy with the sound quality. Ditch the amp.

thanks Operate, I searched and searched and everyone lead to the same ( trash the oem units and start from scratch ). Upon further searches i came upon a thread that stated the oem infinity speakers are running on 6ohms and other speakers run on 4ohms thus causing aftermarket head units to over heat. Do you guys know if any of this is true ?

I'm at work so can't test with a volt meter the ohm on it. but will do a small write up on how to when I get home and get to tinker with the car.

Yes, the oem speakers are designed to operate on a 6ohm load that the factory amp produces, your head unit has an internal amplifier that is designed to work with 4 ohm speakers. The metra unit is like a line output converter and intercepts this signal and modifies it and it is then amplified by the factory amp so you have a mathematical conflict in reality that is producing less than desirable sound quality. you have an already amplified signal that is being scrubbed and then amplified again. So in this case ditching the amp and any speakers that are not 4 ohms would be easier but obviously more expensive. www.crutchfield.com has some EXTREMELY useful tech articles on sound system information that have been super helpful. You may be able to find a way to wire your existing speakers in a way that makes it kinda work out but really its probably best to not try and reinvent the wheel and start from scratch. I am guilty of trying to reinvent the wheel myself, LOL
